「 chapter seven 」

The rhythm of the blaring music vibrated throughout the floor, sending a tingling sensation through Y/n's toes through her heels.  Her face was tinted by multiple colors, all of which were projected from somewhere in the ceiling.

The bar was a lot less crowded than she imagined it'd be on a Friday night, but then again it was on the smaller side of town in Quantico.  The team had just finished a case with a rarity– nobody had died after they got there (besides the unsub).  Somehow Derek had talked everybody into joining him tonight, even Spencer and herself, who rarely drank.

Y/n had only been in a bar once before in her life, and that was with a fake id along with some of the older kids at one of her old schools.  One of the kids knew a guy who knew guy, and ended up sneaking three underage kids into the bar.

Derek was at one of the high stools flirting with a woman who couldn't have been older than herself, while Penelope, JJ, and Emily sat at a booth in the corner laughing with each other.  A few men had tried to pull some moves on the trio, but they just waved them off each time.  David decided not to come, and instead invited Aaron over to his place to teach him how to make some sort of vodka rigatoni.

Y/n's fingers were wrapped around the glass ahead of her, which was only barely drunken so far.  A few men had made some moves on her as well, but she politely declined them all, only one man on her mind.  Glancing around for said man, Y/n chuckled as she noticed Spencer sitting alone at a table, awkwardly gazing at the untouched drink in front of him.  Shaking her head, Y/n she walked over to him, drink in hand.

Spencer's head snapped up at the sound of approaching footsteps, but visibly sighed in relief once he realized it was just Y/n.  "May I?" She asks, gesturing to the empty seat across from him.  A smile tugged at his lips as he signaled her to sit down.  "So, what are you up to?" She inquires, taking a small sip of her drink.  Spencer playfully shakes his head.

"Wondering how I got stuck in this situation.  I mean, I don't even know why I ordered this." He motions toward the glass in front of him.  "I don't even drink!" Y/n giggles at this.  "And being quite honest, I'm not sure why I'm still here." The two laugh, before an idea pops into Y/n's head.

"Well, I can give you a reason to stay." She says, standing up abruptly and extending her hand toward him.  He simply stares at it, not really knowing what's going on.  Rolling her eyes playfully, Y/n laughs.  "Stand up, wonder boy." Tilting his head, Spencer slowly takes her hand, standing up.  Before he knows what's going on, Y/n tugs him toward the dance floor.

"Oh, I can't dance." He states, shaking his head as he tries to pull away.  But her hand catches his arm, as she was determined to get him on that dance floor.  "Y/n, seriously.  I'm gonna embarrass myself, and then you'll be embarrassed, and-" Y/n silences him by putting her finger up to his lips.

"Just shut up and dance with me." She giggles.  Only one other pair was on the dance floor, and by the looks of it that was all there was going to be for a while.  "Nobody's even paying attention, Spence.  And even if they were, they'd be too drunk to even recognize you or remember it in the morning.

"Actually, alcohol only actually dulls the recollection of memories— they don't just disappear.  In fact, numerous elements have been scientifically proven to-" Y/n cuts him off by pressing her lips up against his, surprising the both of them.  Even though the kiss is short-lasted, both of them were left speechless.  Although both of them reciprocated the same feelings toward each other, this was the first time they had outwardly acted out on them.

A series of cheering erupted from the other side of the bar, and the two looked over to see their female colleagues flipping out.  Spencer moves his gaze to Derek, who even though was caught up in getting a hickey from the girl from earlier, winked at him.

"So," Y/n starts, her eyes moving to Spencer's.  "How about that dance?"
