'too much to put her in harms way'

'too much to let her get hurt'

When she woke the next morning it was nearly mid-day, the latest she had slept in a while.

It had been a deep, peaceful, dream free sleep.

She had only slept for 5 or 6 hours even though she had woke up so late

For the first few moments of being awake she didn't remember what had happened last night. When she finally did remembered she thought it was a dream, until she looked down and saw a silver snake ring glistening in the sunlight.

She hadn't any recollection of him giving it to her or him slipping it on her finger, in fact she had no recollection of his hand touching hers at all, had he been able to do it without her noticing.

She didn't think so.

But it had to be his, there's no other way it could have gotten on her finger between last night and now.

She never wore rings herself and there's no way any of her friends would be caught dead wearing a Slytherin ring. Besides, she was sure she hadn't had it on when she was sitting by the fire so it couldn't be her friends anyways.

It had to have been his.

She swung her legs over the side of her bed and saw his charcoal black coat hanging off the edge of her bed.

She remembered they way his arms had hugged around her for a split second when he had put it on her.

She glanced at the large clock on the wall and noticed it was nearly half past noon. Hermione and her friends had planned a lunch at the three broom sticks this afternoon and they surely wouldn't want to have to wait for her too be there to order food

She tugged on some plain comfy clothes, a simple black dress she had bought over the summer with some of her muggle friends and little jacket. She pulled a pair of her comfy white runners out of her wardrobe and tugged them on.

She decided to keep his ring on. She liked the way it looked on her small finger.

She began to make her way down the hill, doing her best to avoid getting the slippery mud on her clean white shoes, although it was rather difficult. She guessed it had rained since now and last night because she was sure it was this slippery when she had walked to the Great Lake

Once she had finally got to the bustling streets in hogsmead she noticed it was a lot more crowded than when she usually went on Wednesday.

Although that was to be expected at 1 o'clock on a Saturday afternoon. She made her way down the busy street and into the three broomsticks.

It was freezing cold outside but she was warm once she was inside. She slipped of her jacket leaving her collarbones and neck exposed to the warm air.

She glanced around before she saw her friends waving her over to a table they were seated at in the back corner of the restaurant.

They immediately welcomed her and Luna gestured for Hermione to take a seat next to her. The second she sat down they all talking over each other trying to tell her about how Seamus had slipped down the muddy hill on the way down and how Harry had seen Professer Snape slip inside a bar just up the road
