Chapter 7

Johanna’s POV

I made it back to Kevin’s place late morning. The first person I’d run into was Selena. A curious smile came onto her face as she took me in. I could only imagine what I looked like. My hair wasn’t in a bun anymore, it was messy. I was still wearing my hinting outfit.

She crossed her arms over her chest and grinned. “You look like you’ve had a very eventful night.” She said, tilting her head. “Did someone do the do?”

I couldn’t help but blush. “What are you talking about?”

She let out a laugh. “When I first met you, I never thought I’d get to see you as vulnerable as you are now. You had sex with someone, didn’t you?”

I keep forgetting that Selena had a life before all of this. She had time to have sleepovers and boyfriends. I became a hunter when I was still a child, so all of this was new to me. Of course she noticed something different about me.

I moved around her, towards my bedroom. “I didn’t.”

She squealed and followed me into my room, shutting the door behind her. I slipped off my uniform as she took a seat on top of my bed, still grinning ear-to-ear. I didn’t really have a problem changing in front of her since we do it all the time. “Tell me. What guy is tough enough to handle you in bed?”

I blushed even more as I found something to put on. Kevin is always the one to pick out my clothes because he knows that I hate shopping. I always tell him to just go to a used store and get something so he wouldn’t have to spend so much on me. But the clothes he gets seems like something he would want a girlfriend to wear. The short, tight, skin showing stuff.

Letting out a sigh, I slipped on some jean shorts and a purple tanktop. I decided to let Selena in, but just not all the way in. “Okay, you’re right. I did…sleep with someone.”

“With you? Do I know him? Was he good? Did he have a big—“

Selena.” I warned.

“Sorry.” She smiled innocently.

“But he wasn’t just good, he was great.” I admitted, getting another squeal from her.

“Who was it? Do I know him? Was it Seth? Or was it Holden?”

I blushed again when she mentioned Holden, remembering when he admitted that he liked me. The first normal guy to ever admit that he liked me.

Selena smirked. “He looked a little too soft around the edges. I find it hard to believe that it was him.”

“Because it wasn’t.” I shot at her.

“Sure.”

I decided to change the subject. “How’s Faye holding up?”

“She’s fine. Still a little worried about her sister.” She frowned. “I don’t understand why we didn’t find anything last night. We know where Diablos is now, but why aren’t there any vampires around him?”

I shrugged, feeling a little guilty. “I don’t know. He’s smart. He could have planned this whole thing.”

“Probably.”

I moved around her to the door. “I’m going to get something to eat. Did you already eat breakfast?”

She nodded. “I already did. I might just take a nap actually. Thanks.”

I smiled lightly and slipped out of the room. When I crashed into something hard, my knee came up in reflex, connecting with a hard chest. I jumped away in shock when I realized it was Holden. “I’m so sorry.” I said, stepping away to give him room in the small hallway.
