Chapter 2

Johanna’s POV

I was still a bit freaked out by what happened by the time I made to Kevin’s place. I made sure I circled around a bit just in case I was being followed before I made it inside.

The first thing I saw when I walked in was Ivan tied up in a chair.

“What the hell is going on here?” I demanded, happy the situation with Dmitri put off for at least a little while. “Why is he tied up?”

I felt arms go around me and knew it was Kevin. “Thank god you’re back. I was about to go out there and look for you myself.”

I hugged him back until I felt eyes on my back. I turned around to see Selena there, glaring at me. I guess she didn’t really like me hugging Kevin. “How did you get away? Did you kill him?”

“No.” I told her. “I knocked him out long enough to get away. It wasn’t that hard.”

“How is that even possible?” She responded. “He has Original blood running through him. Are you sure he didn’t follow you?”

“I’m sure.” I said flatly, feeling no need to explain myself to her.

“There’s no reason to get angry at her, Sel.” Kevin tried to reason with her. “At least she’s still alive.”

Selena crossed her arms over her chest and looked at Ivan. “So, what are we going to do with him?”

I glanced over at Ivan as well and noticed that he was paler than usual, his head bowed down. “Why is Ivan tied up?”

“We can’t trust him, Joey.” Kevin told me. “I don’t even know why you two brought him here.”

“I brought him here because he saved my life and he needed my help. He’s innocent.” I turned around to look at the both of them. I noticed that they both had on the cloth around their face. They really didn’t want Ivan to see their faces. “Isn’t that what we do? We save innocents?”

“Vampires aren’t innocents, Jo.” Selena said.

I went over to Ivan, crouching so I was staring straight at him. My hand went up to touch his face, but as soon as I got close his head shot up, his iris’s turned a dark red and his fangs shot out. I snatched back my hand and watched as he started to struggle against his binds like the monster his kind is.

I pressed my lips together. “I think it was good you tied him up. He needs blood to heal and by the looks of it, he needs a lot of it.” I looked over at Selena and Kevin. “He would have killed one of you two to get it.”

“Then what do we do with him?” Kevin asked.

“Do you have any more blood bags?”

“That’s for bait. We need those bags.” Selena retorted.

I ignored her and stood up, stalking my way to the refrigerator. I opened it, pushing aside the bottles of water and sandwiches, and pulled out two bags of blood. I made my way back to Ivan and crouched in front of him again. I tore it open. “Drink this, Ivan.” I said, pushing the bag into his mouth.

He drank it greedily, his mouth dripping with blood all the way down his chin. Once the bag was drained dry, his normal eye color returned and he let out a small sigh. The huge gaping hole in his chest started to close up as well before it completely disappeared. “Thank you.” He breathed out.

“No problem.” I said and picked up a small metal dagger on the table to release his hands. I tore at the ropes, watching him flex out his now free hands. “Are you okay now?”
