"Welcome to London, Harry." Luna gestured to the town as she dismounted from her bike. Harry did the same.
"London? I've always wanted to go to London!" He adjusted his pack, trying to his head down as people passed. "What're we here for?"
"Supplies, a hot meal, see if we can stay the night." She knew the Leaky Cauldron could provide the latter two, but not yet; they'd have to visit her vault beforehand.
"What's this place?"
"The Leaky Cauldron. Follow me to the rear courtyard."
Luna taps the bricks in a pattern Harry cannot follow, and a doorway opens up. "Holy shit," Harry grins. "It's magic."
"It's Diagon Ally. Everything is magic. Oh and keep your scar covered." They abandoned their bikes before they entered, Luna casting a consealment charm. Harry looked on in awe.
"What? Why?"
"You're famous. And since it's past three now, you might be famously missing. You don't know them, but everyone knows you. And they know you're supposed to be residing in a muggle town, but they don't know which." Missing person posters plastered the front of small businesses confirmed this. Harry patted his bangs over his scar.
"Where are we going?"
"Someplace cool."
"This entire place is cool. Be more exact."
"Gringotts wizarding bank."
"Oh. But I don't have an account set up? And won't the workers recognize me and make me go back home?"
"Your parents had vaults. We're checking those out. And one of mine. As for the workers, the goblins are impartial."
"Goblins?"
Luna just smiled.
Harry kept his head down as they walked, bumping into a few people who seemed to have better things to do that care. They arrived at the bank in no time. Harry hung back while Luna conversed with a goblin until she gestured for him to come forward.
Harry had to a confirmation test, which involved pricking his finger and dripping the blood onto some magical parchment. After that he was handed the key to the Potter vault and shoved onto the sickening ride to his vault.
Harry practically jumped out of the cart, hand over mouth. "Oh my god," he groaned, "That's awful."
Luna, on the other hand, seemed uneffected. She knelt, taking her bag off and ruffling through it's contents. She pulled out three shrunk bags and used her wand to un-shrink them. If the goblins took any mind to the underage magic, they didn't show it.
"Here," she handed one of the bags to Harry, "They'll hold lots. They're enchanted with the extension charm." Harry took it, examining it carefully.
They unlocked and entered the vault. "Wow," Harry whispered, more to himself than anything, "I'm rich as hell." They spent the next half hour shoving piles upon piles of money into the bags. The shrunk all but one down again and put them in Luna's backpack.
"One more stop, Harry. To my father's vault."
"We already have plenty wizard and muggle money," the word muggle felt new and unnatural on Harry's tongue, but he supposed he would get used to it. "What more do we need?"
"We're outlaws. Cool, exciting, outlaws, but outlaws nonetheless," Harry smiled, but he was more confused than amused. Luna continued, "I wasn't supposed to tell you about magic, and you weren't supposed to run away."
"But that's not illegal," Harry insisted.
"No, it's not, but Dumbledore put out a large reward for you being returned home and me returned to Hogwarts. So I'm considering us outlaws."
"I still can't see why he wants me to be in the dark so bad."
"Me either. But, back to my point, I've been working on an abundance of Polyjuice potions for the past year. We'll need them to conceal our identies."
"The last year?" Every time Luna spoke Harry just became more confused. Why was Luna working on a Polyjuice potion, whatever that is, a year before Luna and Harry had met and needed it?
"People found my beliefs unorthodox at Hogwarts. I wanted to be someone different."
Harry did not respond. He understood that, he supposed. He, before Luna, wanted to be someone different, too.
They arrived at the vault, which Luna disappeared into for five or so minutes. She returned with another chanted bag full of vials of Polyjuice potion and two in each hand. She handed one to Harry before downing her own. Harry grimanced at the taste, but Luna seemed unbothered by the bitterness.
Luna's appearance transformed and, after a moment, she was taller than her original self with black hair and blue eyes. She looked like an entirely different person.
Harry felt himself transform too. "Who do I look like?"
"An idoit."
Harry laughed. "No, really, what do I look like now?"
Luna studied his apperance. "You're shorter, which I didn't even know was possible. You're muscular now, with blonde hair. I like the OG Harry better."
Harry gave a goofy grin, which looked ridiculous with his new apperance. They left Gringotts, bass in their shoulders and spirits up. "Where to next?"
"Do you want a wand, Harry?"
"Who wouldn't?"
Luna smiled. "Who wouldn't, indeed."
