After Ava and Jace were done faking their way through the random social occasion, Ava texted Cian to meet her in her room. He texted back that he was on his way while Ava was sitting at her bed. Even though she was upset that Cian had told Jace some of what happened the night they left, she understood that he had done it in confidence. Jace had been the asshole and had broken that trust. Ava suddenly wished she had listened to Oct about him.
A tap at her window pulled her from her thoughts. She opened the window and let Cian in. He stared down at her before sighing and pulling her in for a hug. As soon as she was safe in his arms, she broke down. Even though she hated crying, it seemed that was all she did anymore. She slipped them into Limbo so that her parents wouldn't hear her.
Cian rubbed her back and said, "It'll be fine. You know that. After this, we can leave and never come back. We just have to make it through this mission." Ava sniffed and said, "What about this stupid engagement? I don't want to be married off, I just want to go home."
Cian growled a little at the mention of her impending marriage. "Nothing is final, Avalynn. We will get through this and I will take you home. We might have to move out of Parkwood if Jace is continues to pursue you but we will be just fine." Ava's heart beat a little faster at how possessive he sounded. While she had never really had time with Cian by herself, she realized that lately she enjoyed her time spent with him, maybe even more than she did with Jace.
But then she thought back to Alec. She had really liked what they did together but he seemed so dismissive of her, if he even acknowledged her. Most times, she regretted having allowed Alec to touch her. He was far from a gentleman and Ava doubted she could turn a man from his wild ways. She should probably just nip whatever she had with him in the bud, before she got hurt. Well, more hurt than she was right now.
Men, she thought. Before Jace came barging back into her life a few days ago, she never had a problem with them. Suddenly, it seemed every aspect of her life had a man in it.
She pulled herself together, slipped them out of Limbo and grabbed her phone. She nodded at Cian and he did the same. She decided to start by calling Irz. She wanted a failsafe in the case that she didn't make it home, or if Jace would come back with her. She wanted the clan long gone by then, or at least glamoured better. That's why Cian came in. He was calling some of the dryads, who were also great at glamour. That was part of the reason that nobody found their forest.
"Irz, I'll have to be quick," she said in place of a greeting. "In case I don't make it back, here's the plan: first, get the dryads there now. Like, right now. They agreed to glamour our entrance and the house. Second, we need to make sure everything is liquidated and insured. I want you guys to have my accounts, just in case. If you go back to my house, check my study. There's a large black notebook. That has all my information, including my social security and bank accounts. The house will also go to you in the case of my death. The deed should be in there. It also has all my store information. I would love if you kept it but that's entirely up to you. If Freard and I make it out of this hell, then we'll need to leave. Jace gave away some details of where we are and what I've been doing. We can't trust him." Ava was rushing through her explanation of things.
