"Just be quiet, you wouldn't want to wake up your mom right? You know she works so hard for you", his eyes were dark, evil. He tried to push him away with his short arms, useless.
So all he could do was to close his eyes. Like countless times before. Tried to imagine somewhere nice and safe. It's okay Kit. You have done something to deserve this. That's what he says as his big hands touch around him. So uncomfortable.
Kit got used to it, learned this is what everyone goes through and it's completely normal. As he grew older, he found ways to forget - bury the bad memories, lock them inside a room and losing the key for it. Those things would never appear in his life, as long as he kept them shut. It worked. Until he met Ming.
In fact Kit had never had this type of feeling towards anyone else before. He longed for Ming's touch but thinking about it made him scared. Slowly he began to realize the door was opened, demons he had hidden for the longest time are back. Suddenly feeling like a kid again, fear and terror filling is body in waves.
"Calm down please," Kit says as Ming walks around the house staring at the floor, furious. Approximately two minutes after telling him about his childhood, Ming moved Kit aside and his eyes turned dark.
"Calm down? Where is he? I'm gonna kill him," Ming shouts and goes to Kit, grabbing him by his arms. Kit looks up, his heart beating like it has never done before. "The address, now!" he yells, causing Kit to close his eyes and curl down, leaning his head on his legs.
Ming looses his grip and stares at his shaking body. Oh my god, he thinks and sits next to Kit. "I'm sorry Kit, look at me," he says, now softly. He carefully pets Kit's hair until the shaking stops and he turns his gaze at him.
"He died long time ago, lung cancer," Kit whispers, swallowing right after.
"Ming, can you not tell anyone about this?" he then asks, looking deep into Ming's eyes.
"Don't tell me you never told anyone about this? Your parents?" Ming looks confused, Kit just nods and looks away. "They don't need to know, I don't want them to worry about me."
Ming doesn't say anything, just sighs silently and pulls Kit closer.
"I will never let anyone do anything bad to you again, I'll take care of you. So don't be afraid."
---
Ming and Kit found safety in each other, in a way nobody else could ever understand. Only the presence of the other made their souls calm. No words needed, they could sit in the same classroom completely different sides and still feel it. They didn't have huge issues, they were best friends and soulmates. But there was one thing they never crossed. Sex.
In someway Ming was scared to go too far. He feared the reaction if Kit would suddenly have flashback to things he never even addressed himself.
Kit didn't understand himself, he was always open minded. He felt angry for the things he had buried for years and how they had to reappear now, when he needed it the less.
So they ended up blaming themselves. When you don't talk your mind, it becomes a loophole that never ends. Starting from a tiny bickering, ending up both of them just shutting each other out. They had to start talking again.
Ming looks at himself from the mirror, looks down just to double check again. He smiles at his picture and blows out all air of his lungs before walking out from the bathroom. Kit would arrive in 30 minutes. Ming prepares his favorite meal along with flowers, yellow dahlias. He lights up few scented candles and lowers the volume of the music on the background. Then he waits.
After a long enough wait front door opens. And closes. Ming picks up the flowers and takes steps forward the hallway.
Kit kicks his shoes off and turns his head to find a beautiful flower two inches from his face. He stutters and takes a step back. "What," leaves his mouth as he takes the flower to his own hands.
"How was your day?" Ming asks gently.
Kit nods and looks at Ming's eyes, then checking the flowers. So beautiful.
"I made dinner for us, come," Ming says and takes Kit by his hand, pulling him along with him.
They eat in silence. Kit enjoys the food so much he asks for another plate. After eating, Ming prepares a bath for Kit and goes to clean the dishes meanwhile. It feels just like another normal evening for them. Which it won't be.
Ming sits on the couch, listening to the slow music, closes his eyes to enjoy. He opens his eyes when he feels Kit sit next to him, resting his head on his shoulder. Lights are dim, few candles on the table making it even more romantic.
Kit runs his fingers on Ming's thigh slowly, not saying anything. Ming hums quietly, closing his eyes again after placing his hand around Kit.
Hand travels shyly on Ming's stomach, pulling the shirt up before going under. Ming just enjoys his lover's touch and pulls him closer. So Kit climbs on his lap sitting astride. Now he opens his eyes and looks at a pair of beautiful ones that stare back. Slowly their lips collide. Sparkles, oh the sparkles. Ming's hand are lost under Kit's shirt on the back, pulling him closer not wanting to let go.
Kit's hands make a mess on his hair, as their lips part gasping for air before going back.
Kit smells irresistible as Ming kisses his neck, causing shivers on his skin.
"I won't be scared anymore," Kit whispers as they look at each other again. Ming smiles and nods. "Me too. I love you."
All the fear Kit had just disappears as he is on his arms. He will protect him, he trusts he will never harm him. With each other, they're safe.
