Mia woke up in a hospital bed, completely blank from what had happened. She let her eyes wander around the room and saw her mother sleeping on the couch on the corner.
Mia tried to relax, but in one blink, all of her dead classmates stood at the edge of the hospital bed, still wearing the dresses and suits that they wore the night they were killed.
But one thing that she immediately noticed is that there was no blood. Their flesh were skinny and pale, hollow empty eyes as if something had drained their soul out of them. Or someone.
Even though she could not make out who the others were, she could recognise Melissa looking at her with an expression that seemed to be pure hatred. "It's all your fault."
Mia screamed in horror when black souls came out from their bodies and started screaming at her in different voices. She looked down and saw her bloody hands. She kept screaming as the ghosts of her dead classmates continued to haunt her with those red bloodshot eyes.
"Mia!"
"Mia, WAKE UP!"
Mia snapped from her horrible nightmare completely terrified, she looked up and saw her mom beside her. "Are you okay?"
She didn't respond and laid back down instead. So it was just a dream. She felt relieved that it was, but there's still a part of her that says otherwise.
Not long after, the doctor came in.
"Are you the mother?" The doctor looked at her mom and she nodded.
"How long has she been suffering these headaches?" The doctor asks and her mom began telling him about the accident Mia got into along with being under a coma for two months and the doctor wrote it down before looking up.
"Experiencing minor headaches after being in a coma is normal but they should've stopped within the first three months. The impact must've triggered a nerve that's causing her head to ache." The doctor explains. "We also believe that it's because of the remains of her parasitic twin that's making her head ache because while examining her CT scan result, we saw excess tissues and what seemed to be a single small tooth just right outside her skull."
Her mom gave Mia a confused look before looking back at the doctor. "I don't understand, my doctor told me my husband and I will be having a daughter not twins."
The doctor nodded, "Parasitic twins rarely occur during pregnancy, wherein the underdeveloped twin is absorbed by the other, but sometimes, some of the remains of the absorbed twin grows along with the other." He explains. "But don't worry, we will still conduct some tests to make sure."
After a few clarifications regarding Mia's condition, the doctor left, leaving Mia and her mother deep in thought.
The next day, Amelia got discharged from the hospital. But she was still instructed to rest once in a while by the doctor. Unfortunately the doctor said it wasn't possible to remove the excess tissues because it was fatal. Mia might die during the surgery.
But still, the shocking truth of her having a parasitic twin still kept her thoughts coming. Wondering if ever her twin was alive then maybe her life was different.
She would have someone to talk to at school, share secrets with, and even protect her from bullies.
The last word made Mia think about her dead classmates. After three days, things went back to normal. But the mystery of how they died still remained a puzzle for everyone.
She was laying on her bed reading when she heard the whispers again, but this time, more clearer.
Mia...
Look into the mirror...
Mia...
As if on a temporary trance, her body moved on its own and went to stand infront of the mirror. What she saw was her own reflection, but with blood all over her face.
Her reflection gave her a sinister smile and her eyes widened in horror.
"Hello, sister."
