Fast as Lightning

Chapter 2 The Next Day

      I wake up at five-thirty and decide to get a shower. I get out, get dressed and brush my teeth. I go back to my room and i do my hair into a ponytail. I go down stairs and my mom just started breakfast so, I help.And then my dog comes and joins us.

           "Hey there Cooper, what's up boy? Huh? What's up?" I say in a funny voice

           "Ok here you go, sweetie," mom says.

      I am eating when Brett walks in. My mouth drops down to the floor.

           "Honey, close your mouth," mom whispers.

            "Hey Caroline, mornin," he says casually like its ok to be here at Fiver-Thirty AM.

          "Mornin," I say, then he sits down across from me.

          "Do you want any eggs dear?" Mom asks him

          "Yes please," He says,"Thanks,"

     He watches me eat and I ignore it. He wait for his food by playing with Cooper, and Cooper loves it.

          "So, uhh, why are you here so early?" I say eargerly waiting for the stalkerish response im waiting for. Maybe i've gone crazy, or just very very tired.

          "Well your dad called my dad and asked if we wantwed to milk cows, tend sheep, and cleaning chicken coops. Also we bathed the Horses."

     Defionitely not the response i was waiting for and also the response i certaily don't want but got. That infuriates me.

          " What? You bathed Lightning without ME!?" I say yelling now, "He's MY HORSE!!!!!!"

          "Honey, calm down, its only a horse," Mom says like nothing, but you know what?? Its not her horse though!

          "No I WON'T CALM DOWN! HE'S MY HORSE!" I yell with tears in my eyes

          I stomp to my room and think of how bad I looked in front of Brett. I hear footsteps and they knock on my door.

           "What?" I say

           " Hey, uh , it's me Brett, can we talk?"

            "Fine" I say as I wipe my face off.

            "Hey," he says, and sits down beside me on my bed.

           "What?"

            "I'm sorry for bathing your horse Lightning," he says sounding serious

           "No, I'm sorry because I acted stupid, because you did," I say

          He turns my face with his thumb on one side of my face and his index and middle finger in the other side, turning my face to look him in the eye.

            "You never look stupid to me," he says leaning in

            "But I got mad because you bathed my horse,"

           We're two inches apart now. He holds holdds his stare and leans in, and I lean toward him, and we Kiss. Not for long, but I think he only did that to calm me down. He hugs me, and I hug him back. He laces his fingers with mine when he pulls back, and we walk downstairs. I don't know if my mom notices but, we walk past herwith opur fingers still laced together. Wen we get outside I lead him to the horse barn. Dad and Rick are in there, Making sure the stables are locked. I walk in not holding Brett's hand anymore.
