The next morning, Merida’s eyes fluttered awake. As soon as she saw clearly, she gasped. Beautiful brown eyes gazed down  at her. Hiccup chuckled.
“What the-Hiccup, have you ever heard of knocking?!” she exclaimed.
He was sitting very close to her on the bed, just looking at her. He laughed at her reaction.
“You should’ve seen your face!” he said. She glared in reply.
“Well, what I care most about now is why you are in my room.” She said with arms crossed.
“I was just going to wake you for breakfast but you were sleeping so well so…” he scratched his head. Then he stood up.
“Well, now you’re awake so I’ll wait for you downstairs.” He said.
She stared at him in disbelief, shaking her head. “Hiccup, you’re impossible.” He smiled at her just before he left.
Impossible to not like, Merida finished on her mind. She shook the thought away and stood up to get ready.

Merida sat with Hiccup and Rapunzel in the castle study to talk about the coming winter storm.
“Punzie told me last night a little about Arendelle.” Merida said, turning to Rapunzel. “You said there were two princesses.”
“Yes, there's Princess Anna and also Princess Elsa now Queen Elsa of Arendelle. She was crowned a few months ago. She seems normal and nice to me.” Rapunzel said.
“Have you heard of the winter storm coming?” Hiccup asked.
“Yes, and I dreaded it would be terrible. My kingdom is very much used to the summer weather and if it does come, we’ll be in trouble. Even now, my people are beginning to store supplies just in case.” She replied.
“There are rumors though that the queen of Arendelle had caused all this. During the coronation celebration, the queen almost killed her people with ice that shot from her hands. It caused ultimate chaos and from there, the eternal winter was released.” She added. Merida and Hiccup exchanged looks.
“And you believe in this?” Hiccup asked.
“I’m not sure if I should but it could be possible. I mean, I do have my own magic hair.” She chuckled.
“Is this why the Vikings are attacking, Hiccup?” Merida asked him.
“Uh yeah.” Hiccup never mentioned that he was the chief and that he was leading this attack. But Merida have heard from Astrid about the attack.
His head shot up suddenly. Merida and Rapunzel frowned at him.
“What is it, Hiccup?” Merida asked.
Oh no. I’m supposed to be with them right now. They might be in chaos. The plan is not a head-on attack but they might do something reckless, especially those twins! Oh and Astrid is sure going to kill me as soon as she sees me. Gobber too! And they don’t know about all this and they might-
“Hiccup?” Merida’s voice cut through his thoughts.
“Huh?” He turned to her.
“You ok?”
“Yeah.”
“Sure?”
“Yeah.”
Merida stared at him for a moment before looking away.
“So what’s the plan?” Rapunzel spoke.
“We go to Arendelle and convince the queen to stop this before it’s too late.” He replied after a few seconds.
“It sounds good. Uhh, hey, I need a favor from you guys. I'm coming with you.” Rapunzel said.
“Oh no, I can’t allow that Punzie. It's too dangerous.” Merida protested.
“I know but I don’t do anything but stay in this castle these days. Besides, I can be a great help to you both. I’m a healer so when you get injured, I can cure you. This is chance for me to be actually useful.” Rapunzel said.
She knew this journey was indeed very dangerous but she was willing to be a part of something good. She’s sick of staying lonely in the castle. Sure she had Eugene but he’s always busy too. Just like now, he’s walking early around the streets of the kingdom, checking on the crops and other political stuff.
“Will it be okay with Eugene?” Merida asked.
“Ok for me to what?” They all turned to Eugene who stood by the door of the study. He went over to kiss Rapunzel’s cheek.
“Hey darling.” He said to her with a smile. “What did I miss? Oh Merida!”
He gave Merida a hug. “How’ve you been?”
“Good.” She replied. He then turned to Hiccup.
“Oh who’s this?” he smiled at him. Hiccup stood up to shake his hand.
“Hiccup from Berk. Nice to meet ya.” He said.
“Eugene pal. Nice meeting you too.” Eugene responded.
Rapunzel told him everything they have just talked about and asked him to let her go with them.
“I’ll come too.” He said.
“No…” Rapunzel took his hands in hers. “I want you to stay and protect the kingdom.”
“But…” he started but she pleaded at him with her eyes.
“I’ll be safe and I’ll be back before you know it. I promise.” She said.
He sighed. “Fine…”
She gave him a hug. “Thanks for understanding.”
Hiccup smiled at the two and turned to Merida who looked away just in time. He frowned. What was wrong?
