A/N: This chapter contains a whole lotta gay from the dance part down
"So, how was the break for you guys?" Ray asked as the group walked to school. She had a black jacket with a dark pink fur lined hood, black boots with dark pink laces lined with dark pink fur, white tights, and dark pink earmuffs with a black headband. Lily had the same but the details were in white, Jackie had the details in her dark blue, Lex had them in violet and blue, Lulu had them in lighter pink with white instead of black, Echo had details in dark teal, Sam had them in silvery white, Danny had them in dark green, Corvus had them in dark gray, Lizzy had them in yellow and with white instead of black, and Jamie had the details in dark indigo like his eyes. He had black hair with slight dark indigo highlights. "It was okay. You know my relatives," Lily said with a smile. "It was nice. I felt so weird when my relatives were saying that they couldn't wait until I got a boyfriend. I mean, I'm a lesbian and I have a crush. I'm not getting a boyfriend," Lex said. "It was fun for me. Auntie Sheryl and Auntie Cathy just hit their third anniversary, and my cousin brought her girlfriend. They're fine with me being bisexual, and my moms were really proud of me when I came out to them," Lizzy said. "My family wasn't too bad. I played with my cousins most of the time. Some are my age and some are little," Lulu said.
"I talked with some of our female cousins my age and we made pies," Sam said. "And I beat our other cousins in video games. Pie's yummy," Echo said. "I had fun. My younger cousins and my grandparents asked about being trans and such, and then we just played games together," Corvus said. "It was okay. I watched Lex's whole boyfriend shenanigan go down. It was kinda funny," Danny said. "You try being gay and hearing people arrange a straight life for you!" Lex said, playfully angry. She elbowed him lightly and he pretended to be hurt. "Nothing much, just cooking and discussions. Ray, how were your relatives?" Jamie asked. Ray went quiet. "Did I say something? What's wrong?" he asked. Lily and Lex shot him a hostile glare, and Danny looked away from him. Ray pulled her hood up and walked ahead of the others, leaving them behind. Lily ran ahead to reach her, telling their friends not to follow them. "Ray wait up!" she called out, running to her friend. "What is it Lily?" Ray asked. She didn't sound angry or upset, it just came out emotionless. Ray slowed down and Lily walked next to her. She took her gloved hand and led her back to her house. "We're staying home today," Lily said, removing Ray's gloves, coat, and earmuffs. She led her to her couch and wrapped her in a fluffy dark pink blanket before grabbing Vera and a pillow to give her and making some hot cocoa.
"Do you feel okay?" Lily asked, sitting down next to her and turning on a movie after handing her a mug. "I feel kind of sick," Ray said, gently sipping some of her cocoa. She had taken her hair out of its bun to fall down on her shoulders and changed into a dark gray shirt with a pair of black shorts. Lily pressed a hand to Ray's forehead. "You're getting a fever. Mom and Dad are at work nearby, I'll call them," she said. Lily grabbed her cellphone and dialed her mom. "Mom, can you and Dad come home? Ray has a fever and it keeps on getting hotter. Call the school to say that Ray and I are staying home and that the twins should stay with a friend. I'm gonna grab a thermometer real quick, Ray, stay on the phone with them," Lily said, handing over her phone while she ran to grab thermometer. She came back quickly and did the ear thing. Lily felt Ray's forehead again. "You keep on getting warmer. It says 116.7 degrees," Lily said. She ran to grab a small cooler and some ice packs. Lily wrapped an ice pack in a gray cloth and held it to Ray's forehead. "We're coming home soon sweetie," her mom, Kiara Conyx, said. "Mom will stay on the phone with you while I call the school. Do you want us to bring food?" her dad, Peter Conyx, asked. "Bread, almonds, apples, cookies, juice, ginger ale, and popsicles sound good. All of them will help her," Lily said. "Alright. Kiara, you go to the girls immediately. I'll grab the snacks and call the school," Pete said.
"Okay Pete. I'll get a cab home," Kiara said. She got to Ray's house quickly and saw her laying down on the couch under a blanket and holding Vera. She looked sleepy and Lily was pressing another ice pack to her forehead. "There you two are. Can you breathe honey?" Kiara asked, rushing to Ray's side. "Yeah, I'm not congested. Just a stomachache and a headache. I feel kinda cold, but not too much," she said. Kiara grabbed a gallon bucket. "Just in case," she said. Lily turned on the TV and clicked a playlist of game playthroughs on YouTube. Pete arrived in the middle of a video. He came over to Ray with a glass of milk and some cookies on a plate. Pete had a small cooler with ginger ale and popsicles in it. He had some bread and almonds next to the cookies on the plate along with some apple slices. Ray had propped herself up. She didn't act like she was sick, but the slight red on her forehead, ears, and cheeks showed her fever. Ray drank some ginger ale, which made her stomach feel kind of better. After a few days, she got better. Ray and Lily came to school on Monday. "Ray, what happened?" Danny asked. "I just got sick, nothing too bad. I used to get sick a lot when I was little, so my body knows how to handle it," she said calmly.
