Icy blue eyes stared at the small, one-story log house built in the middle of nowhere — literally, only trees and mountains surrounded the area — she was in amazement.Growing up on the road, travelling across the states, lingering for a few moments, but not long enough to get attached. It was all of Cassie's childhood. Of course, she was happy to have a loving mother and a childhood without much of the drama.
However, she cannot stop herself from thinking: what life would've been if they've stayed back in Boston? Would she have finished school with other kids? Would she still be questioning her sexuality because of oppression back in a small neighbourhood?
There are tons of questions what Cassie had.
But none of them really mattered as the life she's living right now is the best one. Minus the divorce and losing someone that close, Cassie was happy. Work is the best she wishes to have, friends, family and most importantly, she met Isabella.
Maybe their first meeting wasn't the best nor was it the second as she literally asked to hide the truth from Sabrina. But nevertheless, Isabella is an amazing human being. She's funny, caring and she knows what she wants in life.
She doesn't waver when the wind is too strong.
That makes Cassie's heartbeat in a familiar tune. The one she would've run when she was a teenager. Feelings scared her, especially the fast-growing ones. She can't fight them.
"Do you like it?" Isabella breathes out the crisp air, tickling Cassie's cheek as she craned neck down at her.
"Love it," Cassie grinned, eyelashes brushing the freckles cheek as she felt Isabella tugging towards the front door. "I could spend here months. Away from civilisation... all the rush."
Isabella shrugged off her backpack, placing it on the porch wooden floor and bent down to search for something. Cassie leaned onto the railing, both hands clapping onto the smooth wood.
Blondes lips curled upward. "Alone?"
"What, wanna tag along?" Cassie wondered teasingly, bitting inside her cheek.
"Can you imagine?" Isabella sighed dreamily, standing up with a set of keys. She strode towards the doors, still facing Cassie. "Wake up together, eat breakfast and just be all alone in our small bubble."
"You're moving too fast. We only on our first date." Cassie laughed along with Isabella.
"We started backwards our relationship. Hook up, friends and now..?"
