BEATRICE

-

I WAS ON my way with Celia to the soccer field to watch our friends practice. We were invited to watch, and we didn't want to miss the chance to cheer them on.

We walked past the parking lot, and I smiled a little when I noticed Ace's car. I stopped when I realized that someone was leaning on it, making out with a girl. I could recognize that head of hair and back anywhere.

"Bea?" Celia looked at me worriedly. I smiled at her, ignoring the stupid pang in my chest. I couldn't focus my thoughts clearly, but I could focus clearly on the two by the car.

I wiped a tear that slipped from my eye and looked away. I'm stupid.

"Hey, hey, look at me," Celia said, lifting my chin. I looked at her, my bottom lip trembling. She pouted and wrapped me in a hug. She walked me over to the soccer field and we climbed up the highest bleacher, away from people.

Once we were settled down, I frowned.

"You knew this was coming, huh?" I asked. I wasn't mad, it just seemed so predictable. Yet, here I was, still surprised.

She sighed, rubbing my back, but she wasn't looking at me.

"Yeah," She said, looking at me.

"I can't really blame you, can I?" I chuckled lightly.

She smiled and I smiled with her, but before I could help it a sob escaped my lips. The tears started trailing down my cheeks and I hiccupped as Celia wrapped me in her embrace.

"It's okay, Bea. You'll be okay." She whispered in my ear. I nodded into her chest.

"You didn't need him." She said, softly.

"B-But I wanted him." I sobbed, wiping my tears away.

Celia pulled away from me and held my face in her hands. She had a serious look on her face.

"You're smart, gorgeous, and my best friend. His bum ass will probably crawl back to you and you won't let him in. You deserve a prince who will treat you like the princess you are. Okay?"

I felt my bottom lip begin to wobble again and I shook my head. I didn't want anyone else.

"Okay?" She asked again.

"Yeah," I sniffled.

"Good girl now let's distract you. I'm sneaking you out tonight."

I sighed and nodded. She looked surprised for a second but smiled at me.

"It'll be fun." She said and I nodded along, numb to everything that was going on around me.

We walked into the party and I scrunched my nose from the strong smell of alcohol that hit my nose. I ignored the stench and followed Celia into the house and to the living room. I looked down at my clothes and frowned, it was kind of cold in here.

Celia decided to dress me in a black skirt and a red velvet cami top. She said that it would be the last time this year she would sneak me out of the house dressed like this. I knew she was lying.

My parents think I'm asleep, but I'm kinda worried they'll notice I'm not home. Just in case they found out, I packed an oversized hoodie to throw over this outfit if they found out.

Celia then pulled me in the direction of the kitchen and filled two cups with some alcohol. I took a cup of what she poured (that I wasn't planning on drinking) and watched as she downed hers. She giggled and pulled me in the direction of the dance floor.

We were dancing and giggling on the dance floor, my cup was long gone, and having a fun time. I almost forgot the small ache in my heart.

A little into our dancing someone tapped on my shoulder. I looked behind me and smiled at the guy. He was really tall, had dirty blonde hair and bright brown eyes. I stopped and stared at him as he smiled his almost perfect smile. I think I've seen him around the school before.

"Hi," He said.

I smiled, my cheeks burning red, "Hi,"

"Can I dance with you?" He asked, scratching the back of his neck.

I looked back to Celia who was now dancing with Zander and I turned back to him and nodded. He smiled and held his hand out for me and I placed my hand in his and giggled as he pulled me away from Celia.

We danced for a long while before he pulled me closer. I smiled, he smelt like honey and vanilla and it smelt heavenly.

"I'm Rhys. Rhys Miller." He said.

I pulled back from him and looked at him. He did look like a Rhys.

"I'm Beatrice." I smiled.

He smiled and gestured for me to follow him as he pulled me to the backyard. I saw Celia on the way out and waved to her as she winked at me. Once we were outside, my eyes landed on the pool. I let go of Rhys' hand and kicked my shoes off.

I sat down and dipped my feet into the pool and sighed in content. I looked back to Rhys who was smiling and patted the seat next to me. He let out a lazy laugh and sat down next to me, watching me. I loved the water.

Ace was supposed to take me to the beach one day.

I frowned and cursed to myself as my lip began to wobble. I quickly brushed away the tear that slipped down my cheek.

"Hey, what's wrong?" Rhys asked, lifting my chin so he could look at me.

I shook my head and sighed, "It's nothing."

"Don't say that. What's wrong?"

His face was so close and his beautiful brown eyes looked beautiful in the dark. Looking at him made me forget all the pain that I felt. He felt so real and so there.

"I-" I started, but was cut off.

"WHAT THE FUCK?!"
