BEATRICE

-

I SLIPPED ON the dress I found in my closet and smiled. Ace said he was taking me out for dinner and had a surprise after. I was excited, but also nervous.

I walked over to my mirror and looked at my reflection. The dress reached my mid-thigh and was glittery and gold. It had a spaghetti strap and hugged my curves deliciously.

I stepped into the pair of gold heels Celia forgot at my house and thanked the heavens that we're the same size. I stared at myself in the mirror and smiled. I looked good. Slutty, but good.

I heard the familiar tapping at my window and grabbed my things and shut off the lights, ready to go. It was quite late, so my parents were asleep and my door was locked.

I opened my window and spotted Ace at the bottom. His bright smile could be seen in the dark and I felt my insides churned. Now was not the time.

He beckoned for me to come down and I took in a large breath. I've climbed down this tree before, but never in heels.

I grabbed onto the closest branch and swung myself on. Feeling stable enough, I shut the window quietly and continued my climb down the tree. As I was about to step down, I slipped and yelped quietly.

As I prepared myself to fall, I didn't. I peeked an eye open and noticed that I was in Ace's arms and he was smirking at me.

I let out a relieved sigh and got up fixing myself. He smiled at me and dragged me to his expensive car. We climbed in and he started the car, revving it up and driving away.

I looked up at him as a song played in the background. He was drumming his fingers against his wheel and sang inaudibly.

He looked down at me as he merged onto the highway and smirked.

"You look hot, baby." He said, his eyes drinking up the short dress I was wearing.

I blushed and looked away, "Thank you."

His hand slid around my thigh and he squeezed it, "Don't look away from me, baby, okay?"

I looked up at him and bit my lip, "Okay."

My eyes ran up and down his body and I had to will myself not to clench my thighs. He was dressed in black pants and had a matching long-sleeved dress shirt that was rolled up to his elbows.

My eyes widened as one of my favorite songs came up on the radio. I reached for the radio to turn it up and peeked at him, giddily.

He nodded and I jumped at it, turning the knob to the right.

"Switchin' the positions for you!" I sang, laughing.

He laughed as he watched me dance in my seat to the song. We laughed along to the song and my eyes widened as he started singing along, but stayed quiet.

I haven't had fun like this since... forever.

ACE OPENED THE door for me and I took his hand as he shut the door behind me. I paused as I stared up at the store we were at. It was big and very bright. Classical Jazz music was playing in the background and I stuttered as I read the big words at the front of the building, The Seaside Palace.

The Seaside Palace was one of the most high-end, most expensive restaurant in California. It was known for looking like a palace and being by the sea. They served a very select and unique set of meals and they switched it up every month.

I looked up at Ace in disbelief.

"You brought me here?" I asked, my jaw finally recovering from the shock.

He smiled and slid his hand behind my waist. He bought me closer and planted a kiss on the top of my head, "Enjoy your time, baby."

I smiled and followed him as he walked to the front. I looked around as he talked with the host. The ceilings were unbelievable high and sparkled as if they were made of gold. The pillars on the sides of the walls looked ancient, but added a nice touch.

I looked down to the shiny clear marble floors and to the clean tables each set up to perfection. I smiled giddily as I spotted the humongous fish tank filled with jellyfish.

I was pulled out of my thoughts as Ace led me to one of the higher tables in the back. We climbed up a short set of stairs and were led to our table.

I smiled as I took my seat opposite of Ace. He took his seat and asked the host for two cups of water. I smiled up at Ace as he looked around.

He finally looked at me and smiled, "What?"

I shook my head, "This place is beautiful."

He nodded, "Been coming here since I was 13."

My eyes rose, "Wow."

He nodded, looking away. I reached for his eyes and once I looked into the bright grey eyes, I saw sadness.

I didn't know whether he minded me asking or not, so I decided to drop it. The waiter came back with the two glasses of water and asked us what we'd like to start with.

I looked to Ace and waited for him to answer because I had no idea what to get. He ordered a bunch of testers and asked me if I wanted anything specific.

I shook my head 'no' and he nodded. The waiter walked away and I smiled at Ace.

"So, what's this surprise you have planned later?" I asked, leaning my head against my hand.

He smirked, "I think it'll be better if you find out when it happens."

I frowned, "Please?"

He leaned forward and smirked, "Let's just say it won't be me taking the reins today."
