About two weeks flew by, Shinso and Denki had gotten even closer. Denki's room was filled with Shinso's things, along with his, as if they'd been living together for a long time. Gradually, Shinso became better friends with Denki's group. It was early in the evening, and Denki and Shinso just arrived back at the dorm from hanging out with them.
"Okay, now we gotta go to Aizawa's soon, he's having me over for dinner and I think he knows I'm bringing you. I didn't ask, but like, come on, what does he think I'll do?" Shinso said as he took off his shoes by the door. "I'm just gonna change my shirt, Bakugo scorched it a little."
"Okay, I'll wait out here" Denki said.
Shinso grabbed a shirt and went into the bathroom. He lifted up the shirt he was wearing, and stopped to stare at himself. It wasn't long before he felt sick just seeing himself. There were red scars all across his chest. He quickly looked away from the mirror, and slid on the second shirt. He walked out of the bathroom and saw Denki putting a few clips in his hair.
"So you like wearing them now?" Shinso asked.
Denki yelped, obviously startled. He fumbled with the bag of Eri's hair clips, and put them on his table. "No! It's not that I enjoy wearing them- I uh- Eri gave them to you and I'm sure she'd be happy if she knew we used them-"
Shinso chuckled, and walked over. He took one out and stuck it in his hair. "There, now Let's go"
The two made their way to Aizawa's place, and Shinso knocked on the door. Aizawa answered, and Eri pushed past him and ran out.
"You don't need to knock, Hitoshi." Aizawa said, and let them in.
"Hitoshi's here!" Eri shouted happily. She ran back inside.
"Hizashi! Hitoshi and his boyfriend are here!" She yelled to Present Mic. She grabbed his hand and led him to the door.
"Hey! Good to see you!" The loud blonde man said happily.
Everyone said their hellos, and Aizawa seated them at the kitchen table. He served up some plates of rice, fish, and bread.
"Now, the real reason I asked for you to come over was so we could discuss something important." Aizawa said, in his usual flat voice.
"Oh? What is it?" Shinso asked after taking a bite of his fish.
"So.. It's clear your parents uhm.. How to put this," Aizawa struggled.
"They want nothing to do with me, and they're never coming back. I've accepted that already, and I don't care." Shinso said flatly, as if it didn't matter.
"Well, uh- Yamada and I, would like to take you in. You could still live with Kaminari over the summer, of course. But it'd be good for you to have parents." Aizawa explained.
Shinso's jaw almost dropped. He dropped his chopsticks into his plate.
Denki looked surprised as well. He looked at Shinso, but couldn't tell what he was feeling.
"Y-you wanna adopt me? Is that what you're saying?" Shinso stuttered quietly, tearing up a bit.
"You'd get to be my brother isn't that so cool!?" Eri said excitedly.
Yamada chimed in. "We know it must be hard to not have your parents in your life, and whether you admit it or not, we know you miss them. But the harsh reality is, they're not coming back for you, so we will just pick up behind them what they dropped." Yamada said, not in his usual loud upbeat voice.
Tears fell from Shinso's eyes, and he smiled brightly.
Denki reached for his hand and held it tightly.
"So, is that a yes?" Aizawa asked.
Shinso stood up from his chair, still holding Denki's hand. He stood with him. Shinso walked over to his Fathers-to-be, and pulled them into a hug. Eri stood up and hugged his leg, since that was about as high as she could reach. Denki put his arm around Shinso.
"The process might take a while, but feel free to come over whenever." Aizawa said, breaking the hug.
"Do I like, gotta call you both dad or something?" Shinso asked.
"That's up to you" Yamada said.
"Okay, dad." Shinso said with a chuckle.
Eri jumped up and down. "Does that mean I can call him my brother?" She asked.
Shinso knelt down to her height. "Sure thing, sister." He said with a smile.
"Does that mean my homeroom teacher is my father in law?" Denki asked.
"Wait when did we get married-"
"Ugh, lord, there's already a loud blonde in the family. That job's taken." He said and pointed to his husband.
"I won't be too loud!" Denki said.
"Ugh, don't call me dad though that's weird. Sure I guess?" Aizawa said.
Shinso and Denki looked at eachother, smirked, and looked back at Aizawa.
"Dad-Zawa?" They said in unison.
Eri shuffled uncomfortably on her feet.
"Absolutely not!" Aizawa yelled.
"Hey, Eri, I noticed you don't call them dad, even though they adopted you, why is that?" Denki asked without thinking.
Shinso felt second hand embarrassment for him. "You poor smooth brain-"
Aizawa stared Denki dead in the eyes. "Don't."
Eri looked at the floor. "My daddy is gone, I don't wanna call anyone else that." She looked back up. "But it's okay! You didn't know," she smiled.
Denki hid his face in his hands. "Oh my goddd, I'm so sorry-"
"It's okay Kaminari! Really, it is" she said.
Shinso leaned in and whispered, "I'll explain later, Denki."
Denki uncovered his face, and nodded.
"So uh, anyways! Hitoshi, I'm glad you'll finally have parents again." Denki said, smiling at his boyfriend.
"I honestly forgot what it's like to be surrounded by people who care, thank you. All of you." Shinso smiled.
