When Vanshika opened the door she could tell her flat in Mumbai was also a home now. She missed home; home had not left behind a sweet aftertaste. Distancing herself was still bitter to her, maybe she missed something or just contained too much of it. Whatever it was, she now realized that the flat now was not something she had forgotten. It wasn't new. You can feel it as a human being, something that isn't necessarily new, that it feels comfortable, a bit like home. The windows illuminated the room first in monochrome and then with subtle hues of morning colours. She glimpsed out on the paper still on the table partially weighed down by the book. She got confused for a minute, either out of her absentmindedness or a small sense of guilt, allowing her to recuperate from that immediate self reproach if she apologized. She was far from slumber and she decided to have a walk down the same garden to calm her solitary thoughts. She walked on the stone path punctuated with weeds after every stone as it led to the garden. She was thoughtless and didn't mind the people yet the laughter of the children playing occasionally fell onto her ears.A glance out to the path showed her a familiar face it was Shiv walking in with his skipping ropes in his hand. He had been to gym earlier and came in to relax before heading home towards his daily routine.

He sat on one of the benches and hadn't yet noticed her for he was deep into his own thoughts and got on with his stretching and breathing exercises. Vanshika knew she had not collected the bank documents he had been so intimately waiting to receive her and she also had his documents which she had wanted to return with an apology, but second thoughts rushed in, Will he be angry? Will he shout? There were a million possibilities she thought of all possible situations frame by frame and no reaction of Shiv's would have surprised her yet as she moved towards him with the letter the fear started to rush in she didn't want to, what is there to say concerning this wrong i have done she thought.
