Trigger warning: physical assault, mention of blood, murder
Aera just came back from grocery shopping and she was in a very foul mood, to say the least. She was supposed to have dinner with her boyfriend, but in the last two weeks he had been constantly ditching her for various reasons, most times it's "I'm busy" or "I'm tired", some include "There's a presentation tomorrow", "I've overtime" , the list was too long to note down. She knew something was off with him and she had reached her bottom line of patience. It didn't take much for her to snap at him, when he called to kindly inform her that he wouldn't be able to make it for dinner at hers. She didn't care anymore that she was shouting on her phone in the middle of the supermarket. She called it quits over the phone, even though he kept constantly apologizing.
Aera decided that she wasn't going to let him break her. She was strong, even there was a tiny voice in mind saying he would come tonight.
She was arranging her shop bought goods when she heard her door creak. She felt relieved and she hated that. Why was a smile breaking on her face thinking he came for her? She could feel someone approaching her from behind. The sound of footsteps becoming heavier which was weird because he would always remove his shoes at the entrance. Tip tap, tip tap. She turned around and her heart missed a beat.
It wasn't him, in fact it wasn't someone she knew. She let out a breath which she unknowingly was holding. She tried to ignore the thumping of her heart, seeing the unknown man in her kitchen with a scary glint in his eyes. She asked him, "Who are you?", acting nonchalantly as much as she could at the moment. He gave her a deep chuckle before replying, "I'm Baekhyun," forwarding his hand for a handshake, "my friends call me Hyun".
She was confused as to what she should, without thinking much she returned his gesture for a handshake. The handshake was getting long and his smile was creeping her out. She was about to pull her hand when he pushed her on the floor. She landed with a thud getting slightly dizzy as her head hit the floor. He let out a high pitched laughter, "Hahaha, got you! Don't you know "stranger danger?".", while pointing towards her. She was getting more and more confused and scared with each passing second.
She tried to get up, once, twice, thrice but failed. Her vision was getting blurry, her head was hurting as if it would burst any moment. She was too engaged in getting up that she failed to notice blood coming out from the back of her head. She had to get up, she had to save herself, she had to something. She almost, almost succeeded until he yelled at her, "Stay there. Don't you dare move." His smiling face now replaced with a stoic face. It was giving her goosebumps.
She didn't even know how he got in, in case of her ex boyfriend he had a spare key but what about him. She was slowly crawling out when he pulled her back into the kitchen by grabbing her hair. She felt so helpless. He knelt to level with her, he shushed her, "Shshh, listen to me. It'll hurt less." He wore his gloves and then proceeded to wrap duct tape on her mouth, followed by her hands and finally her feet. She tried to oppose him, only to get a glare that could make your spine shiver. She was sobbing being unable to do anything to save herself.
He leaned against the kitchen cabinet facing her and he then brought back his creepy smile. He began speaking alone, "Well, you must be thinking how I got in?", getting no response he spoke a little louder than earlier, "Right?". Aera just nodded her head. " You know, I'm really good at opening locks now. It's my thirteenth number?", he questioned himself and then assured, "Yeah, it is. Apparently screwdrivers are more useful than most people think. And your lock didn't require much to open up like earlier ones. Let me tell you, the old lady's lock was a pain in the ass just as she was. I got rid of her just like I'll of you." He let out a childish giggle. "Ok, now let's move onto your next question.", he pretended to think by placing a finger on his chin, "Why you?", he continued his monologue and now back with that same stoic face, "Remember how you were shouting in the middle of the market at your lover? Yes, I was there. I HATE WOMEN LIKE YOU, those who scream at their lovers, constantly nags about everything. I just hate you, I really do. But I can't hate my wife. No I can't. "
He paused and then slapped her on both cheeks."Don't stare at me with those eyes. Look down." He harshly ducked her head. It was getting hard for her to keep herself conscious. "Now, third question, how did I start killing whores like you?", hearing it she straightened herself and kept her head high to keep eye contact, even though her vision was blurry.
She knew there was no way out, she was going to die, it was better if she died bravely. "UGH! I told you not to stare at me.",he yelled at her, tried to duck her head but failed. He hit her constantly against the nearest kitchen until it started bleeding, he let out a satisfied chuckle afterwards. "My wife Soo-Ah, she's really beautiful and I love her so much. But you know, she constantly calls me loser, failure, useless and tells me I ruined her life", he pointed at himself, "She even told me to steal from my office. She says to me that I'm the worst thing that happened in her life. But I know she loves me. She's just sad that we live in such a small apartment. We'll soon move out. I managed. Her constant taunting and nagging makes me angry. I've to get rid of that anger, right? So,I kill women like you to vent it out. Also, I help those men who suffer because of you."
He craned his neck and cracked his finger, gave her an innocent smile, "Well, I guess that's it. Goodbye". He unbuckled his studded belt before strangling her with it. He kept singing Beautiful Goodbye, while tears were rolling down her cheeks, she was struggling to get rid of it. Her struggle ended, along with her.
Her boyfriend came that night and found her dead body, tortured in an inhuman way. Post mortem report stated that she was strangled to death with sharp and pointed material on it. She was stabbed with a knife constantly, most likely after her death. Also they were marks of hitting on her skin, that were like wounds. It was similar to other unsolved twelve cases, police doubts it's a psychopath. No proof has been found till date.
