Yes, Elvis almost loaned his deep vocals to the hit musical West Side Story. Director, Robert Wise, offered him the lead role, and it was close to becoming a reality.
Elvis was indeed interested in doing the film, but halted when his manager,
Colonel Parker, worried that this might not be the right film for the star.

The producers of the movie then went on to audition Warren Beatty,
Anthony Perkins, and Burt Reynolds, before giving the part to Richard Beymer.
To be honest, I can’t really imagine Elvis singing “Something’s Coming” or “Tonight.”
