"Man, it's been so long since our first year at Hogwarts. Who even knew we would be attending such a school, huh?" Your friend of eight long years couldn't help but express his astonishment at the thought as he placed his briefcase full of clothes on the small shelf located above the train compartment seats. It really didn't occur to you how long it has actually been since you first stepped foot inside of the school grounds.

You could still remember the bright lights that shone through the school windows at nightfall as you arrived in a boat and the smells that filled your nose when you engaged in the annual feast that the school normally put together for the students. "I was more surprised than you think when I opened my letter, I had no idea such a place even existed back then." You replied as you smoothed out the back of your skirt and robe to sit beside Caroline Windles, laying your head against her shoulder and being careful not to get your hair in her face. She always hated that. You picked up on it one day in potions class during your second year together when you flipped your hair out of your face to keep it from accidentally getting it into the cauldron.

Unknowingly, it had hit poor Caroline in her face and she almost decked you in the temple judging by the facial expression she displayed when you turned to face her. Luckily she isn't the type to hold grudges for the littlest things or you two wouldn't be friends today. Having potions class every year with her was what brought the two of you closer together as good friends. If it wasn't for her, you were sure you would have failed that class. "Why didn't your mother tell you anything? I find that a bit weird if you ask me. My father told me all about the wizarding world when I was just five years old. Keep in mind, it was very hard for me to keep it a secret from the muggle world as a young kid. I wanted to tell everyone I walked past. It was a nightmare!" Caroline added to your comment with her own. Everyone you knew at Hogwarts found out at such a young age but it took your mother about eleven whole years to spill it to you.

It's not a gigantic deal to you today because you were sure it was because your parents were muggles themselves and possibly thought you would be a muggle yourself up until you received your acceptance letter. But back then you felt sad on the inside that they kept such an amazing thing from you. You got over it quickly once you returned home after your first year since you missed your mother and didn't really care for mindless arguing on the topic.

"She had her reasons, guys." Zachariah, who just finished putting your case full of clothes beside his for you turned to finally sit across from the two of you. He smiled brightly and nodded at you, remarking - "I'm sure she did." Zachariah was one of the most attractive people you have ever laid your eyes on. He was actually your very first real crush when you arrived at Hogwarts for your first year but you never told him.

You never told anyone really. you were much too shy to say anything and at the time he had his eye on Cho Chang. As soon as she went up to the sorting hat before being sorted into Ravenclaw, you could see it in Zach's eyes that he liked her. Your eyelids shut as you continued to lay on Caroline's shoulder, letting out a long breath to relax your body. But just as your body began to unwind, your heart nearly jumped out of your chest when you pat your hand over your inner robe pocket and didn't feel the usual lump.

You realized your pocket watch was in fact missing from it's rightful place. You quickly sat up straight and double-checked to make sure you were feeling every inch of that pocket, your eyes growing wide. "What's wrong?" Zach asked with confusion. "It's my pocket watch, I just had it earlier and now it's gone." You couldn't tell but anyone else listening to you could - your voice was filled with worry.

That pocket watch was a gift from your father and you'd be damned if you lost it. It meant the world to you and it was the only thing you had left of him. Caroline was already fast asleep with her head leaned against the side of the train compartment near the window so she wasn't in any state to help you look for it. "Let's look for it together." Zach offered as he watched you get onto your feet. You decided that if you were to look for it on the train, you'd go alone.
