Terran's POV

I woke up feeling somehow lighter and also a little warm, which was something new. I've always woken up cold nowadays.

I opened my eyes and realized why.

I felt a little panicked seeing how close I am to Zahara's sleeping form.

But then I remembered what had happened. We had shared what happened to our families. We had revisited our worst realities. And we grieved, now with someone who understood. And we comforted each other.

And, well, there was no one else to comfort us now. We only have each other.

I noticed the orange hue of the sunset filling the room then. It was almost sundown.

I moved away first, carefully so she wouldn't stir, just so Zahara wouldn't feel awkward as I did when I realized our position.

When I was far enough, I stood up from the bed and went around it, so I can stand by her side of the bed. Then I started gently waking her up. We have to get ready soon. We'll be heading out tonight.

--

The first thing we agreed on when we decided to go out to get supplies was that we won't separate unless absolutely necessary. We had discussed all the things we knew and observed about the zombies and started planning from there.

We'd be leaving by nightfall. The first stop would be a gas station close by here. I had loaded the car there before I had found this house. Fortunately, I don't think the undead would hang around there. There was none the last time I was there cause there really isn't anything much there. They constantly follow sounds and, I think, light when it's dark. That probably would be the easiest thing to cover tonight. We just have to be sure to be quiet as much as we could.

Then we'd first scout the area to check where we can get what we need.

I haven't really explored much when I came here, as I was only looking for a safe place then. Zahara haven't seen much of the area either since she constantly hid and would just go wherever she thought was safer, constantly moving.

We weren't even sure which city we are in. So much has changed since the apocalypse and I don't think I've been here even before that.

If we do find a convenience store or a market place, the first thing to do is make sure that we can go in and out safely. Find a safe place to park the car, clear of zombies and close enough to the store so we can easily bring back the supplies.

And I guess, hope that there are no zombies inside, or at least, there's just a few blind ones and it'd be manageable to avoid them. Or we'd need to find another place.

We made a list of things we want to get, but the priority is food.

Hopefully, everything goes well.

When the sky has completely darkened, we finally went out of the house and to the car, bringing with us a pair of guns and some grenades, just in case. I do hope we won't be needing them, though.

When we were in front of the car, I looked at Zahara. That's the only time I noticed. I was too focus on the plan that I didn't realize, but she looked really scared and anxious.

Without really thinking about it, I found myself grabbing her wrist to get her attention. She looked a little surprised--I think she was too distracted that she didn't see me move.

"We'll be fine." I told her. "We won't do anything risky. We'll be quick, okay?"

She looked down to the floor, now looking a little embarrassed.
