Stefan didn't go to school Thursday. I knew he was worried about Damon, but I didn't think he would go look for him. Not so soon. He knew that Damon would probably still be mad or upset. I made Stefan breakfast, put it in the fridge and went to school.

"Where's Stefan?" Elena asked as we prepared for class.

"Home." I said. "He's taking a day off."

"That's unlike him." She said.

I nodded.

"I know. I think he's worrying about Damon. He's restless."

"Poor Stefan." Elena sighed.

Class started and we paid as much attention as we usually did, which wasn't really a lot. We chatted every now and then in the back of the class. I also texted Stefan a few times, just to make sure that he was doing okay. When we got off school I went directly to the police station to talk to sheriff Forbes, otherwise known as Liz Forbes, Caroline's mom. She let me in immediately and asked me to take a seat in the chair in front of her.

"That case about Mrs. Jenkins," I started hesitantly. "Damon didn't do it."

"What makes you think that?" Liz said and leaned towards me.

"Damon never regrets his killings. He never gets upset about his kills either. But he seemed so upset when I asked him about Mrs. Jenkins. He rejected my accusation twice, so I know that he didn't do it, Sheriff."

Liz shifted uncomfortably in her chair.

"Could it have been anything else?" I asked.

"We both know that an animal would be unlikely." She said. Someone knocked on the door. Liz walked over, opened and asked whoever it was to wait a minute until she fetched them.

"Sheriff, Damon has been my brother for a few years. I know him. This wasn't him. He couldn't have done it. Maybe there's another vampire in town?"

Liz shook her head.

"I'll leave it at animal attack for now. Thank you for your honesty, Luna. You can go now."

I nodded and left for office, seeing Stefan lean against the wall in the hallway. I furrowed my eyebrows and looked at him.

"Hey?" I questioned.

"Hey," He smiled sadly.

"What are you doing here?" I asked.

"Filing a missing people's report," He held up the paperwork for me to see them. I smiled sadly.

"Do you want me to wait for you?"

He shook his head.

"No you can go. I'm probably gonna go for a walk after this. To clear my head you know?"

I nodded, gave his shoulder a squeeze and told him I'd see him later. Then I went home. I ate dinner by myself. Stefan didn't come home before late in the night and he went directly to bed.
