"Happy birthday!" I greeted, sitting down at the Gryffindor table.

"Thanks, Charlotte," Hermione tucker her hair behind her ear.

"Here, I got you this," I handed her my carefully wrapped gift.

"You didn't need to get me anything," she frowned.

Ron rolled his eyes, "Open it."

Hermione looked at him with a disgusted face but slowly unwrapped the gift. She smiled as she examined the cover of the book, "Thanks, Charlotte! I've been wanting this!"

"Really?" I asked in disbelief.

"Yes!" she pulled me into a hug, "Thank you!"

I grinned, piling breakfast onto my plate.

With occasional input from the twins, Harry, Ron, Hermione, and I discussed everything under the sun; Umbridge, Voldemort, their friend Snuffles, etc.

Once, the Great Hall had emptied out a bit, the trio stood up.

"We have to get to class," Hermione waved, "You probably should too."

I laughed, "See you later. Happy birthday!"

Hermione rolled her eyes playfully before following Harry and Ron out of the Great Hall.

I sighed as I picked up my books and walked towards the exit.

A cold arm grabbed me and yanked me into the shadows.

"God, you're like a pop up book from hell," I muttered to Malfoy.

"You ate with the Gryffindors," he said through gritted teeth.

"Yes," I said mockingly.

"Why," he demanded, his eyes stormy.

"It's Hermione's birthday," I shrugged.

"The mud-"

"Don't call her that," I said, my eyes narrowing, "You can call me that, but do not call her that."

He rolled her eyes, "Why would I listen to you?"

I shook my head, "Just leave me alone."

"I told you to stay away from Potter," he growled, his grip on my arm tightening.

"Why would I listen to you?" I smirked, pulling free from his grasp and walking away from him.

"Charlotte!" Harry called in the busy corridor.

I smiled and made my way over to him, "Hi!"

"Hey, Hermione and Ron kind of want me to do this thing," Harry said quickly, "But, I don't know if I want to."

"What is it?" I asked.

"They want me to sort of teach people."

"Teach people?"

"Yeah," he said, "Like, because Umbridge isn't teaching us anything. They think I'd be good for it."

"You would be," I smiled.

"I don't think I would," he frowned.

"Well," I said, "Don't do anything you don't want to do. But, I think it'd be really cool."

He thought for a moment, "If you think it's a good idea, I guess I'll tell Hermione I'll do it."

I grinned.
