Maya's POV

Summer flew by. Lucas and Zay went to Texas and Smarkel went to a science summer school and Riley kept avoiding me. I'd text her, no answer. Call her, declined. Go to her home, not there. Mr. and Mrs. Matthews were still nice and supportive. They were a wreck though, they never knew where Riley was and had no idea what was going on. Like the rest of us.
It was the third week of junior year on a Sunday when my phone buzzed, thinking it was Smakel confirming our girls day out, instead it was from Riley.
Is this Maya?
Riley y r u asking that?
Because I deleted your number. I need you to come over. Now. The windows open, we need to talk.

Flashes of hurt, anger and hope flew threw me. Maybe she'll apologize and we can be friends again.
I'll be there in five.

I was through her window I exactly five minutes to see her sitting staring at me, and I almost didn't recognize her. Her dark makeup, low cut black shirt, fishnets and butt shorts.
"...Riley?" I asked.
"Why did you do this?"
"What?"
"It's been three months and he hasn't called me."
"Who? Lucas?"
"Yes. You made him break up with me, you chose Lucas over our friendship, stopped supporting me and broke up with Josh spreading that stupid ass rumor." Riley scowled.
"Stupid as- you mean what he did to me?" I asked in shock.
"It's bullshit and you know it."
"You didn't bother to come see us. You have no idea what he did! You didn't see what he did to me! And I never choose Lucas over anything! You stopped showing up and ignored everyone. I never made Lucas break up with you, he got tired of everything you put him through and decided it was enough on his own. The only thing I haven't supported you with is all this stuff you've been doing and especially what you did to Lucas!" I vented.

Riley rolled her eyes.
"Why is it such a deal?"
"Because!" I groaned, rolling my eyes in return and stopped as they hit the door.
"Because..." I began remembering our good and evil debate from freshman year.
"You see this door?" I asked walking over to it.
"I can pull and tug on it but nothing can get in because it's shut. But-" I paused cracking the door open and stepped back as the door traveled open.
"The slightest crack throws the door open wide letting more bad stuff come in. You threw the door open wide, and you have to close it yourself. Riley, what you did was wrong. I can't support you with that." I finished.
"And yet you expected me to stand up for you when Lucas called you a short stack of pancakes?"
"That's completely different. He called me a name and you didn't stand up for me. You, you cheated on him, made him feel horrible, and could've gotten him very sick Riley, and other guys too. And you don't even think what you did was wrong!"
"It's not."
"Wow...."
"What?"
"I'll see you later." I sneered, closing my bae window and leaving through her bedroom door.

I can't fix Riley. That's not my job, friends don't fix each other they help each other. But she has to want to help herself first.
