Chapter 5
/Keira's POV/
"Cassidy Williams what do you think you are doing young lady?!?!"
Ms Miller's loud screech woke Cassidy who had slide so far down her chair. She had nearly slid off. She jerked up violently at the sound of Ms Millers voice and nearly fell off her chair.
"YES SIR! I-I mean mam."
The class erupted into raucous laughter and Cassidy rubbed the sleep out of her eyes while letting out an awkward half-laugh. As Ms Miller launched into a long admonition of Cassidy's attitude and behavior, my attention drifted away to the events of the past week. It had been a week since the arrival of our two guests. After a week, most of the hype about them had toned down. The gaggle of giggly girls surrounding them had vanished and they both refused to be a part of any school activities.
I frowned slightly causing a crease to appear in my forehead.
It was quite strange actually.
Both of them had quite a lanky, slightly muscular build and yet didn't play any sports and refused to join the jocks at Madison even though they would have easily fit in. They didn't join any clubs either. None of the cliques caught any of their interest either. They preferred to keep to themselves. Which was perfectly fine by me.
Over the past few days I had to endure Cassidy's agonizingly often questioning. It was getting incredibly unbearable until I accidentally let slip about my accident and memory loss. Then she finally stopped after she accepted that I had no idea who they were.
I suppose I would have to talk to them sooner or later. Madison High was quite a small school, I'm sure we would have classes together. Maybe I can get to know them better.
Cassidy's chair scraped noisily on the floor as she slid forward into the table.
Ms Miller droned on.
~
"Oh gosh finally it's over! Honestly, if I have to endure any more of that I'm going to dieeeee!" Cassidy exaggeratedly exclaimed. Bree giggled at her crazy friend and said "Well, you do ask for it at times."
"What?! No I do nottttt. She should get used to it by how."
"Gosh you are incorrigible!"
I tuned out their bickering as I fumbled with my locker code. After a few seconds of trying to get the key to fit in right, it finally creaked open. I shoved my previous books in and rummaged around for my art materials. I had art next and I was looking forward to my first lesson. It was only recently open to students as the previous teacher had left and the replacement had only just come in.
Shoving my palette and brushes into my bag, I quickly yanked my drawing pad and shut the locker. Bree and Cassidy had finally stopped their little disagreement and were pulling out their materials for their next lesson.
"What do you guys have now?" I asked.
"Hmm...photography." Bree mumbled, half her head inside her locker and she searched for her camera.
Cassidy grabbed her camera and slammed shut her locker quickly to prevent any suicidal books from jumping out of her cluttered locker. To think I packed it for her just the week before.
The bell had rung five minutes ago and the hall was starting to look rather empty. I started fidgeting as I stole glances at my watch, I'm going to be late oh no...
Finally Bree shut her locker and after a quick goodbye we sped off to our classes. I felt a little anxious at having a class by myself but quickly pushed that feeling aside as I ran to my class.
"Well, you're early Ms Regan."
I stared blankly at her. Huh? Oh wait that's me!
"Oh I'm sorry Ms...this won't happen again I promise..."
"Ms Taylor. Well make sure you keep that promise then. Go on, make yourself comfortable, I'm going to finish up the attendance taking."
I nodded and made my way to my easel. Dumping my bag on the floor I pulled out my materials and set them up. Once I was finished, I started observing the people in my class since Ms Taylor was taking attendance anyway.
A few of them I recognized from previous lessons. Clara the Asian girl from Chemistry, Renee the brunette from History and Ryan the jock from my form class. There were two cheerleaders and the rest were strangers. Turning to my immediate left I was greeted by someone I would have hoped to prolong meeting.
Lucian Knight.
Oh no.
I quickly dropped my gaze to my easel and tried to focus on Ms Taylor who was starting the lesson.
"Well nice to meet you Keira."
I jerked in my seat. Was he speaking to me? I couldn't help but blush a little. His voice was low and smooth and I felt a shiver run through me. Stiffly turning to my left I forced a smile and gave him a little wave.
Well hello new easel partner. What a pleasure it is to finally meet you.
