Chapter 22

Evie's POV

"Would you like any help?" I ask the maids as they begin making breakfast. "No thank you Ma'am, you can go do as you please and we'll ring the bell," the head maid - Helen - answers.

"I've told you, Evelyn is fine, and thank you!" I say, clicking my fingers for Comet to follow then heading out of the kitchen.

I let him outside to do his business as I head to the stables, needing to let Star and Monaghan Boy out.

"Good morning," I say to the horses as I open their stalls, noticing they've already been fed. They willingly follow me as I open the gate to their paddock, going in.

I shut the gate once they're both in and give them a last look before heading back inside, Comet joining me.

"Jane!" I excitedly say once I see her. "There you are!" She giggles, sitting down on the sofa as myself and Comet join her.

"Did you enjoy your wedding?" She asks. "Best day of my life! I couldn't of wished it any different!"

"Tommy said you felt like something is gonna happen?"

"Yeah, I just feel as if something's going to go wrong soon. Maybe it's just me overthinking as usual, you know how I get when I want things perfect," I shrug it off, not wanting to worry her.

"Well, today is just a lazy day yeah? All us women can talk while the men do business and we can act like we don't have stuff to do," she laughs.

"That sounds nice, but what happens if something goes wrong with them while we're all sat here?"

"It won't, don't worry," she says as Tommy walks in.

"I've to go to London, business meeting," he tells me. "You haven't even had breakfast," I sigh.

"I'll be back in time for dinner if I leave now," he says, petting Comet. "Don't do anything stupid and I want a cupcake from London! Babies cravings," I sigh.

"What flavour?" He asks. "Vanilla with chocolate icing," I say after a couple seconds. "I want the same!" Jane adds, making me giggle.

"Alright, you'll get your cakes, anything else?" He asks, making me smile. "Nothing stupid, and you need to be back in time for the charity," I answer. "I will, oh and don't use the phones. Somebody's listening," he says.

"We won't, stay safe," I quickly peck him on the lips and wait till he leaves before returning back to Jane.

"Wanna go out with the horses after breakfast?" I ask. "Which one will I be riding?" She asks. "Well Monaghan Boy like to randomly start galloping so I'll ride him," I say, smiling.

"Are you my auntie?" A little girl that looks similar to my sister asks.

"Sorry! Mind of her own," Aurora says, picking her up. "Just like you then, and yes I am your auntie."

"Thank you for the Christmas presents!" Poppy says. "That's okay, wanna come up?" I ask, noticing Jane had now caught up with Star.
