Lauren

“Karishma, what was that about?” I walked up to our lunch table to find Karishma with Natalie’s crush, to whom she just confessed to liking. She stalled a long time before answering.

“Oh nothing, this morning Jason knocked into me and knocked me into the snow. He was just making sure I was okay.”

She said it like it was no big deal! It was obvious that she was flirting with him, even after what happened with her and Natalie last night. “Karishma, I know what happened between you and Natalie, I don’t think you should be hanging around him if you want to be friends with Natalie again.” I just don’t understand her problem, how could she do that to Natalie?

“You know what Lauren? I don’t care about Natalie! She shouldn’t have acted like that, she should have had more sympathy than she did.”

“Karishma, you admitted to loving her crush! How could she not be mad at you? I don’t want to be around you if you’re going to act so selfish!”

“Then don’t hang out with me. You can go be with Natalie!”

“You know Karishma, I don’t give a shit! I’ll go be with Natalie and I’ll have a much better time with her then I will ever have when I’m around you!” I got up, flicking my long, brown, curly hair at her while doing so.

I stomped over to Natalie, she was with Rachel. I told her everything that Karishma said, Rachel went wide eyed while I was talking.

“Did that really happen? Is that really what she said?” Rachel asked.

Natalie and I nodded simultaneously. Natalie’s eyes were red and puffy, I could tell she was crying all night. The corners of her mouth were turned into a frown.

The stupid bell rang to end lunch, the rest of the day went by in a flash. When the end bell rang I met up with Natalie to walk home. “Hey Natalie, lets go to see Divergent to get your mind off of things”

“I don’t know! I don’t really want too.” She had her whiny voice on that made me know that she really didn’t want to go.

“please Natalie! Let’s go to the movies, it might make you feel better!” I said with a bright smile on my face.

She smiled back and said “fine I’ll go, but you’re getting me candy” we both laughed and talked about our day on the way home and decided to meet up at five p.m for the five forty-five showing.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We both met up in the Cineplex for the movie, Natalie got a small popcorn, a large orange fanta and I bought her a bag of skittles. I, myself, got a regular popcorn, a medium drink, and a bag of Skor bites.

We sat through the movie looking at each other each time the director got something wrong. It was probably the longest two hours of my life.

Once the movie ended Natalie and I walked out of the theater in silence, once we got out of the theater, that was another question. We looked at each other simultaneously. I dared to say something first. “That was the worst movie ever!”

She laughed and replied “I know right! What happened in her fear landscape?!”

I laughed too “And what about Peter stabbing Edward in the eye with a butter knife? That was my favourite part of the book!”

I kept laughing until someone walked up behind me and said “I know that was my favourite part too, the movie wasn’t even close to the book!”

I turned around there was a tall boy, probably around our age, sixteen or seventeen, he had short, wavy hair combed back, he had freckles, bright blue eyes like the sea on a summer day, and a brilliant bright smile.

I smiled shyly, I felt myself blushing and I fixed my hair as a reaction. “How about Uriah he wasn’t even in the movie! He is my favourite character!” He laughed, a sweet smooth laugh.

Natalie turned to me and smiled “Lauren, my mom’s here. Do you want a ride?”

“No thanks I’ll wait for my mom to come and pick me up!” She gave me a hug and winked! I whispered “I’ll tell you all about it tomorrow!” She left, and I stayed and waited for my mom but I kept talking to... Wait I don’t know his name.

“I’m Lauren by the way!”

“I’m Chris! Oh there’s my mom. I have to go now! I guess Ill talk to you sometime soon?” He smiled so sweetly.

“Um, ya here’s my phone number, call me sometime and we can hang out. But you look familiar to me, what school do you go to?”

“Westfield high school, I’ve seen you around the hallway’s but I’ve never had the guts to talk to you. No offence but you kind of look like one of the girls who only likes the cool kids.”

“Trust me, those guys are jerks. I like the nerds!” I smiled, and at that he left, smiling devilishly. Oh my god, I thought I was going to explode, he is so hot!
