Jack Channing's Moonwood

Jack's house in Moonwood became the most-visited and talked-about art gallery in the Midwest. People traveled from all over the world to see his final paintings and to gawk at the lake and the surrounding forest, where Jack and Rose disappeared and were rumored to haunt the land.

Jack's disappearance was considered suspicious, though some believed that the scene police found the next day, after his agent called 911, appeared to be staged. After all, it was nearly identical to what they found when Rose Bernardi disappeared.

There was no body, no real evidence other than a few streaks of blood (not enough to prove he was dead) and drag marks on the path leading to the lake.

If it hadn't been for Andrea and Mandy, the house might have been reclaimed again by the plants and trees, Moonwood might have been sold to some new young family who knew nothing of monsters that live in the shadows and things in the water that eat you.

Robbie Bernardi died in jail, just a year after he was sentenced for the murder of Eric Holstetter. The doctor said it was his heart, and people believed it. Mandy thought it had all just been too much for him, that his heart was broken years ago, and never healed.

If you visit Moonwood now, you can find messages left for Rose and Jack all over the property. Some are long letters of sympathy, others quotes or little drawings.

Near the lake, low on a tree, Mandy nailed a small plaque that reads:

I hope you found each other, and there is no more fear.
