Treanne

The next day, I come across Galvin when Kaizer was just done parking our car. He's on the bike aisle looking like he just arrived. Wearing his usual basic outfit, a plain tee and jeans.

I was about so ignore him when Icarus and Stephen appears behind my back, pushing me away from the dark corridors back to the parking space. It's a bright sunny day, our shadows trails before us as I let the two jerks push my back and I'm barely moving my feet. They let go when it's just two meters away from him. He got his wireless earphones on so I wait until he turns and removes them.

"Hi." An awkward wave, a smile and my eyes closing directly against the rays of the sun.

"Treanne." He says my name in return in a greeting manner. There are no more words coming out of my mouth. I have never been in this awkward situation with boys especially when I am good around them.

"I..." I didn't know but I splat about my non-existent interest regarding our next topic in Chemistry Class for tomorrow. After bringing up lies, it was me ending up with my phone where he's putting his personal number.

Asking his cell number was never part of the plan.

"You should give me yours too." I was kind of surprised when he hands his phone back to me. I stumble typing in my number that I'm not sure I did right. "See you in class." He leaves as if it's a normal thing to do which it is.

I continue to stride, dragging two of my friends who have been hiding by the bushes the time I was talking with Galvin. I look around, checking if anyone else witnessed what might seem like hitting on with a popular guy.

No one.

The next day, I prepare myself. I wear the cleanest black tee without the white spot. I slip into a nice ripped jeans and a white converse. I lay my hair down without wearing a cap that usually causes a curve over my head.

While on the ride to school, I think and think and ponder on ways how can I get closer to him that I can even invite him to the ball as a date. Now, getting his number was first step but it takes another one to have the guts to send him a message without it containing any school related topics.

Should I just ask him straight to the point?

Yes, I can definitely do that if I intend to be rejected. I mean, Treanne the boyish girl in the class interested to someone with a different chromosome? I might just wear a banner screaming I'm doing it as a dare.

Maybe, I should just tell him we have to pretend to be a date just to show the soccer team I did it?

Yes, I think that'll do.

I am so brilliant... am I?

I sit by my friends when I arrived at the lab. I cover my lab coat over my head and push my brain against the cold tile, breaking it so I could escape class. Icarus and Stephen are both staring at me, waiting for my next move. I peek from a small opening and see Galvin already sitting on his usual spot. It's the closest table by the window, with perfect sunlight with its rays making it look like a spotlight in the day. He's on his earphones, makes me wonder what kind of music does he listen to.

"I can really see how difficult this is for you." Icarus sounds like he'd help me but we both know that'll never happen in a lifetime.

Stephen removes the lab coat off from my head then pinch my cheeks so hard I got back to earth. Hell, it hurts!
I was about to complain and nag him about it when the professor appears at the front.

She notices I am not on my proper seat so she eyes me until I move away from my torturous friends.

Galvin removes his headphones just as I sit on the stool beside him. I put my bag over the table infront of me and play with my fingers to distract myself. I can't and don't want to say a word to him. I just hope the teacher will keep talking about her lectures so I can pretend to be listening.
