In 1980, out of the many children born, there were three that stood out.

One born in November, a snow storm filling the sky on the eve she was born, her eyes as dark as the night.

One born in June, the coldest of them all even in the time of new life and spring.

One born in August, as the green leaves darkened and fell to the ground, much like the walls around her heart.

One thing bound all these girls together. A lineage, more powerful than any other. The same pureblood running through their veins.

The blood of the House of Black.

However, all was not peaceful.

The first girl was cursed. Her parents were sentenced to a life of imprisonment for the crimes they had committed. Crimes that would haunt the victims for the rest of their lives. A surname that would make the girl have cruel words follow her forever.

Her name was Ursula Lyra Lestrange.

The second girl was more fortunate. Her parents had evaded capture, even when they had been just as guilty. They were cowards though, running when it suited them, throwing money at every problem that arose. The girl was born with a twin that night, and they were treasured like no other children in the world.

Her name was Clarissa Ariadne Malfoy.

The third girl was abandoned. From the moment she was born, she had no one in the world. Her father gone before she was even born, and her mother died mere hours after the girl's birth. There was no one in the world for her, until the gracious family of her cousins took her in.

Her name was Penelope Selene Black.

After all, family was the strongest of bonds. Blood was thicker than water.

"Clarissa! Hurry up, you're so slow!" Ursula shouted playfully to the middle child of the three girls.

"I wouldn't be so slow if I wasn't carrying everything myself!" Clarissa yelled back to the older girl.

"Come on! We're almost there. I'll help with that." Penelope, the youngest child said trying to find the peace in between the arguments. Penelope was always the calm in the storm, the eye of the hurricane, the peace in the battle.

The three girls climbed to the top of a hill and Clarissa laid down the blanket she had been carrying. They all sat down and looked at the gorgeous sunset beyond the rolling fields. The hues of each colour blending into one another. The scarlet, deep orange and golden rays, mixing with magenta and navy shades. It was a warm August evening and the days were slowly growing shorter.

"Do you think we should have let Draco come with us?" Penelope asked but Ursula and Clarissa both shook their heads.

"Definitely not. This pact is between us sisters, and us sisters alone. Anyway, he probably would have asked a bunch of annoying questions." Ursula answered, bringing out the things they needed for the pact.

"The book says that now we have all reached the age of 11 we should form a pact. An agreement between us sisters. Saying nothing will ever come between us, and that we will always be able to count on each other." Clarissa stated proudly and Penelope snorted.

"Was this from a wizarding book?" She asked in disbelief, trying to hold back a smile.

"Yes it was in fact. I got it from Father's library. I even got Draco to translate it from the original rune language it was written in." Clarissa continued, clearly not amused by Penelope's interruption.
