Finally I have my flight booked for LA, I have wished for my birthday to be here and over so fast in my life but this year was different. This year my birthday meant that I would be flying out to LA to spend the year with Mel. If all things go well, I'm hoping to buy a place out in LA, I have the money behind me I just don't like to talk about it. I'm fairly confident that my family doesn't even know how much dollar is in my account even from all the competitions I did.
I'm sat in my closet on the floor trying to sort out what clothes I'm going to pack with me. The weather is so different in California to how it is here in New Jersey. Beside I could always buy clothes while in LA anyway. As I pack all my things I decide to give Mel a face time to check in and make sure she's still okay to pick me up from the airport.
Alyssa - Hey Aunt Mel!
I say with excitement, I give her a wave and blow a kiss to the screen. This was something we always did to start our facetimes. She smiles and does the same back. I really miss not seeing Mel everyday, even though I get along with all my family and both my parents are awesome, Mel has always been like another mum to me, expect she was always fun and never enforced rules.
Mel: How's my little Aly-Kat?
Alyssa - You know I'm not so little anymore Mel, I did just turn 20 you know?
I laugh at her nickname for me, Aunt Mel's always called me Aly-Kat for as long as I can remember. Between us she knows that I love it.
Mel: You'll always be my Aly-Kat even when you 35 and have your own kiddo's.
Alyssa: Facts! I wanted to check in and confirm if you were going to be picking me up still from the airport. I land tonight at 6 your time.
Mel: Actually, I have a meeting from 5-7 but I was going to ask Tyler to come get you?
Alyssa: Which one was Tyler again? I don't want to be looking around for someone I don't know Mel.
Mel looks away from the screen talking to someone, she turns back to face me and a moment later a boy appears behind her. He has piercing blue eyes the type that can literally pierce into your soul and know all your secrets. His hair is hazel brown and curly. I'm not even going into his jawline because no man should be that damn good looking. I haven't even spoke to him yet and I can feel a blush staining my cheeks.
Mel: Aly-Kat this is Tyler Schrage, Tyler this is Alyssa aka my Aly-Kat.
I slap my hand over my face mentally cringing from embarrassment at the fact Mel introduced me by my nickname. I peak through my fingers before I pull my hand away, Mel is smiling at me while Tyler looks amused. She's doing this on purpose.
Tyler: Nice to finally put a face to the name. Mel talks about you all the time. Alyssa is such a unique and beautiful name.
Alyssa: Nice to meet you too. Um, thanks... (I blush at the compliment, unsure how to respond)
Mel: So what time should Tyler be at the airport?
Alyssa: I land at 6 so should be out and ready by 6:15 as I have fast track passes
Tyler: Great, I'll see you later.
Alyssa- Tyler?
Tyler: Yeah.
Alyssa - Maybe Mel should give you my number so you can let me know when you arrive / where you'll be waiting.
Tyler: Great thinking, Robin. See you tonight.
Alyssa: Hell Nah, I am for sure Batman. I ain't no side chick!!
Tyler stops and turns back to the face the phone. He shakes his head and laughs, he winks before turning around again and leaving. I stay on the phone with Mel for a little while longer before it's finally time for me to say my goodbyes and head out for the airport.
