Katrina walked into the house, the noise coming from every side. The lights were dim making it hard to see, as the smell of sweat and perfume filled the air.

She watched her friend rush to the dance floor already cozying up to some guy. She shook her head and smiled, that would be Stasia.

She looked around, unsure of what to do. She decided she would make her way over to the drink bar, hopefully, she could distract herself with some alcohol.

As she made her way across the house she tripped, falling headfirst into the person in front of her.

Kat looked up to see the face of the person she had bumped into and gasped. He was beautiful. He had some of the bluest eyes she'd ever seen. His hair was dark and swept away to the side, a few strands falling in the front of his face.

Katrina snapped out her daze. She turned around to say something to the mysterious man but he was already gone.

                                                                                      ***

She finished drinking and looked around bored. She spotted Stasia again, taking up the middle of the dance floor, no doubt catching the eye of every guy here. She sighed and went to pour herself another drink when a voice called behind her,

"Hey!" said the voice, "You dropped this!"

She turned around to see a man standing a couple of feet behind her. He must have been shouting pretty loud for her to hear him over the music. He seemed to be holding something in his hand.

He walked up to her and held out a bracelet, "Is this yours?" he asked.

"Yes, it is." Kat said, "Thank you!"

The bracelet the man was holding was a charm bracelet given to her by her mother on her 13th birthday. It had charms that she had collected over the years and it meant a lot to her. She hadn't even realized she had dropped it.

The man smiled, "I thought so, can't have you losing it."

"No, we can't have that." She said chuckling. "I'm kat."

"Sam," the man said.

"Nice to meet you, Sam," Kat said. "Thanks again for the bracelet. I'll see you 'round."

Just as she turned to leave, Sam grabbed her arm. "Wait!" he said, "Can I at least get your number?"

Kat chuckled, "Straight to the point, aren't you? Yeah sure, just give me your phone."

She took the phone out of Sam's hand and typed in her number. He was cute, she thought. Maybe this could go somewhere.

A voice came from behind her and she turned to look. It seemed to be a friend of Sam's calling him over.

"Sorry," Sam said, looking genuinely sad. "My friends calling me."

"Don't worry about it," Kat said quickly. She had really hoped to have had some more time to talk to this guy, he seemed nice.

"Hey," Sam said lifting up her chin with his finger, "I'll be shooting you a message soon" he winked, smiling, and turned to go

Kat watched Sam walk away, her small smile turning into a larger one. This was going to be interesting.
