As I felt a hand on my left shoulder, I jumped up and screamed. My heart beating like a time bomb.
I quickly turned around to see who nearly gave me a heart attack. Automatically smacking the person flat in the face.
Just to look in the startled eyes of my friend Anna.

"Oh God, I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to... Are you ok?!" I removed her hand from her cheek and rubbed the red place in an attempt to lighten the pain for her.

Suddenly she started laughing uncontrollably. "What the hell Dawn? Why so tense?"

"I uh... It's nothing." I tried to reassure myself, but my heartbeat was telling me differently.

I looked over her shoulders to see if the man that I had been watching was still looking this way. That would be two times as embarrassing.
Thank God he wasn't...

The woman on his lap was gone and he had continued his conversation with the other man across the table. Looking rather bored now.

She looked at me with wondering eyes, following my gaze behind her. "Are you sure? Has anyone bothered you?"

"I was just lost in my own thoughts, I guess." I shrugged my shoulders. Trying to show her everything was fine, but my heart was still beating like crazy!
Trying to change the subject I asked her: "So, what happened? Where is mister hottie?"

Finally her worried face was replaced by a smile. "Oh right! I forgot why I even came over to you. He is still over there waiting." She said while giving a nod over her shoulder. "But I came here to tell you I'm going to the washrooms, wanna come too?"

"Nah, I'm fine. Just going to order another drink."

"Okay, honey, see you later!" She gave me a small kiss on my cheek and disappeared between the crowd.

I took a deep breath to calm my nerves. Turned towards the bartender to order my drink...

When I felt a body press into my back. Two hands creeping up my shoulders.

"You deserve more than to be seated all alone." A males voice sounded from behind me.

Nothing could make me more furious than a man thinking that he has some kind of right to be touching up who ever he likes. But the alcohol in my body made more bold and aggressive than I usually am. Easily accepting the challenge.

I answered him with a sweet voice: "Is that so? You must be very full of yourself to think I would prefer you above my personal space."

"I know my capabilities, you would be surprised..."

Instead the surprise was on him when I turned around faster than my drunk brain handled, but managed to aim my fist straight for his nose.

The sound of his broken nose clear, together with some swear words and blood trickling down unto his lips.

His eyes glowed with fury. But in the small amount of time I quickly took advantage of his confusion while he placed his fingers under his nose to inspect the blood. My knee went up, colliding hard in his crotch.

This time the surprise was on me when he took his hand up in the air ready to revenge his broken pride and nose. But it was snatched by another person before he could swing his hand in my direction.

"Leave, if you prefer to live."  A cold and emotionless voice sounded from the mysterious man who saved me from getting into a fight I would have obviously easily lost.
