Arriving at Lilly street, I ask Hudson; "Which house is yours?"
"The, uh, the third house on the left," he stammers, as it seems he hasn't fully recovered from the truth of me being Julian's parent who was pregnant and birthed him.
Nodding, I drive toward his home, pull into the driveway, and shift the Jeep into park. Jenson climbs out the same time as Hudson does, who leaves the passenger side front door open for my brother. They call out their goodbyes after Hudson thanks me for the ride and grabs his bags. Jenson settles into the vacated passenger seat, buckles himself as I back out of the driveway, and head toward home.
"I'm surprised you haven told your friends about Julian," I say as I turn onto our street. "I'm not mad either way, just surprised is all."
"It's not my place to tell your business to people without your permission," he replies with a shrug of his shoulders.
"I apprecitate that, J," I softly reply, while parking in the driveway and turning off the engine.
Climbing out with my keys and wallet, take Julian from his car seat as Jenson grabs his bags from the floor of the back seat. Unlocking the front door, we enter the house, and I shut and lock the door behind us.
"I'm taking a shower, my muscles are sore," Jenson groans with a scrunched-up nose.
Smirking at him as I place my keys and phone on the counter in the kitchen, as I decide to tease him; "More like it smells like a good idea on the shower."
Jenson instantly flips me off as his sticks his pierced tongue out at me with a smirk, while I bounce Julian in my arms as my brother returns; "You're such an ass."
"That might be true, but you know you still love me," I reply with a smirk of my own as I stick out my pierced tongue; we went for our birthday's last year to get our tongues pierced together.
"Sure do!" he calls back as he takes himself and his bags upstairs to shower.
Looking down at Julian, I find him awake and chilling in my arms - he's usually a calm baby. Checking his diaper, finding he's wet, so I take us upstairs to change his diaper before he becomes upset. Once I've finished, I take us back downstairs where I check my phone, and I find a text from dad.
'Hey, we're having pizza delivered tonight for dinner. I'll order before I leave work, and I'll be home by 5:30 p.m., and so should the food. Love you boys.'
'Okay. I'll let Jenson know when he's out of the shower. We love you, too,' I send back a few mintues later as I still haven't mastered typing with one hand on my phone.
Placing my phone back on the kitchen counter, I make Julian a bottle since he's becoming fussy. Once the bottle is ready, I settle us on the couch in the living room. While he drinks, we stare at each other. I love my dad and brother, but the love I have for my son is something I can never being to explain to someone who doesn't have a child. What I don't understand is how a parent can hurt their own child physically, emotionally or mentally, or leave their child behind without a second thought if they know the child or children exsist.
I'm brought out of my thoughts when Jenson enters the room asking; "Do you care if Hudson stays the night tonight?"
Frowning at him as I tilt my head to the left with a confused expression; "Why are you asking me? Isn't that question for dad?"
"I've already asked dad, and he said he was fine with it. I wanted to ask you because of Jules," he return with a small shrug of his thin shouldersas he sits on the other end of the couch from me.
"Appreciate the thought, but I don't care either. You guys might hear him throughout the night though if he has another night like last night," I tell him lifting Julian to my shoulder to burp him.
"I didn't hear him at all last night, so I'm sure this won't be a problem for us if it happens again tonight," he replies with a soft smile at us. "Besides, my nephew is worth a little sleep deprevation."
"Yes, he is," I murmur, starring down at Julian as I kiss his temple lightly; Julian coos at this as his head is in the crook of my neck, and his little bum is resting in my palm as the rest of his body is resting against mine, as I rub gentle circles on his back.
"Can I have my nephew?" Jenson asks with a pout at me, and I carefully pass Julian over to his uncle after kissing his head again.
"Have you answered your friend?" I ask, standing up to rinse Julian's bottle out in the kitchen.
"Yeah, he's going to be here in an hour," he says, not looking up from Julian's face, as Julian stares intently at his uncle.
"Awesome," I reply, walking into the kitchen to rinse out the bottle and leave it in the sink to be washed later after dinner.
Entering the living room, I snag the television remote off the coffee table and turn the t.v. on as I sit back on the couch. Flipping thrugh the channels, I settle on 'Expedition Unknown', and after a glance at Jenson, who nods happily, I click on this show - Jenson and I both enjoy this show. By 5:30 p.m., dad is entering the house with Hudson, and before dad can walk away from the door, the delivery person arrives with dinner, whom dad pays and Hudson and Jenson carry the boxes into the kitchen.
"Dad, this is Hudson Brown," Jenson says catching dad's attention as our father is opening the lids of the four boxes that are on the counter. "Hudson, this is my dad, Jeremy McCarthy."
"Nice to meet you, Hudson," dad greets with a warm smile. "Do you play on the soccer team, too?"
Hudson nods with a smile of his own; "Nice to meet you, too, sir. Yes, sir, my position is attacking midfielder."
Dad's smile widens as he nods; "Nice postion, and please call me Jeremy."
Grabbing four plates from the cupboard to the left of the sink with my left hand as Julian's in my right arm as Jenson takes cans of sodas from the fridge for everyone.
While everyone places pizza slices on their plates, grab a soda, we enter the living room to each. Sliding a can of soda into the front pocket of my jeans, I adjust my hold on Julian before grabbing my plate and following everyone. Placing my plate on the coffe table, I place Julian on his play mat and sit next to him after pulling the can from my pocket.
"Jeremiah, how old are you?" Hudson asks as I settle myself. "How old is your son?"
"Um, I'm 17-years-old, and Julian is 2-months," I reply with a small smile as I grab a slice and take a bite.
"Oh! I thought you were more than a year older than Jensonm" he replies, completly shocked.
"We're actually ten months apart. His birthday is September 26th and mine is November 30th," I explain with a grin.
Hudson's jaw drops in shock as the three of us laught softly as this is most generally most people's reaction to our age differece. I have no idea why since it's not that big of a deal. We talk throughtout dinner, until the flow of conversation is inturrpted by Julian's loud wail. Placing my open can on the coffee table before picking him up and cradelling him to my chest.
"What's wrong, my little man?" I coo, kissing his forehead lightly as I check the outside of his diaper to see if he needs to be changed, which he doesn't.
Cuddling him against me, I gently sway my upper body side-to-side as he still cries, which tells me he is hungry. Standing I take us into the kitchen to make his bottle before returning to the living room to feed him. Sitting on the couch instead of the floor this time, I can feel eyes on me eventhough I know they are still talking. Bringing my gaze up from Julian's face, I find Hudson starring at me curiously. Raising my left eyebrow at him in silent question, and he takes his gze off me and to the floor before looking at Jenson. Grinning to myself, I focus my attention on Julian again, who is intently starring at me. Quietly humming one of my favorite songs to Julian, and he loves it too since it always helps him calm or sleep.
"What song are you humming?" Hudson asks
"Drag Me Down by One Direction," I reply before continuing to hum as Julian starts to drift off to sleep before finishing his formula.
