It was the sound of incessant knocking that woke me from my deep slumber.
It took me a moment to realize where I was. I groaned when there was a knock again.
"Coming." I hurried out of the covers and looked down to see my watch on the nightstand which showed 7o'clock. Mrs. Dennis had mentioned that my books and stuff would be delivered by today but it was the break of dawn for goodness's sake!
I walked to the door and opened it a little because I was not dressed to expect guests.
Instead of Mrs. Dennis or any other staff, I was surprised to see a girl of my age standing on the other side. Her hair was fiery red and open reaching well past her shoulders and freckles were generously spread across her cheekbones. Her eyes were greyish black and and they looked beautiful with her red hair and oval face. I looked down to see that she wore a white satin top with a rectangular neckline and blue jeans paired with red sandals.
"Normally I would say eyes up here 'cause its guys checking me out but it feels nice being checked out by a girl."
I was probably beet red after her statement and quickly looked up to her face.
"I'm sorry but I'm as straight as they come." I replied.
She giggled and said after a moment, "Aren't you gonna invite me in?"
I raised my eyebrows and blurted, "Why?"
Great you had your first social interaction here with someone your age and you are down right rude. People are gonna love you!! I cursed inwardly.
"I mean I just woke up and I'm not even properly dressed plus the boxes are spread I haven't even started to unpack." I quickly replied or more like blabbered.
"It's okay I was sent by Mrs. Dennis. She told me that you had moved here alone yesterday and that you may need to shop for necessities and so I thought why not take you shopping properly." She said with a smile.
"Oh" It wasn't a bad idea I needed my basic necessities and I even needed to decorate my room. Plus I needed someone to show me across town.
"Okay" I replied deciding and opened the door more to allow her in.
She hopped inside and looked at me up and down.
"Wow you weren't kidding when you said that you just got out of bed. Oh I forgot to introduce myself!" She said face palming herself. "I'm Josie James junior year student and your guide for today and possibly your future friend."
"Ezelynn Chambers, junior and quite excited for the prospect of becoming your new friend." I said taking her outstretched hand to a handshake.
"So please sit on this bed while I freshen up." I said and took my clothes and toothbrush out and jumped into the bathroom.

An hour later Josie and I were sated across each other in a small café just outside school campus. It had been towards the back of the school and hence I had not seen it while arriving. It had a brown board saying 'CHRISTOFF'S CORNER'. We had given our orders and were seated on a small table near the glass wall. The café was quiet with very few people as classes were to start from the day after tomorrow.
"You should see it on school days it's packed in the morning, if you are even a few minutes late you would be lucky to have a place to stand inside the café." Josie said as she carried our orders to the table she had insisted on doing so saying that she needed some alone time to have 'pleasant talk' with the hunk behind the counter.
