"only when it's dark enough can you see the stars."

Later that evening, the girl was feeling overwhelmed with everything.

She was laying in her bed, but she couldn't find herself to be falling asleep.

She sat up, leaning her body over. She placed her elbows on her legs and rested her hands on her face.

She slowly got up out of her hammock, careful not to wake anyone. She heard a cough coming from behind her.

She slowly made her way out of the homestead.

She walked out and looked up at the sky. The first time she remembers seeing stars. They filled the sky.

It was quiet. Everyone was sleeping.

She walked over to the area with a dimly lit light. It was the only artificial light in the whole place.

As she got closer, she saw a small pond and a picnic table.

She reached the pond and she sat down near it.

She changed her position from sitting to laying down. Her arms rested together on her chest, as her eyes focused on the sky above her.

She felt her eyes become heavier and they started to close.

She heard a noise from behind her. She ignored it until it came closer.

"Hey." Said a familiar voice, in an accent she liked hearing.

Her eyes remained closed, "Hi."

She heard him come closer, he sat down beside her, "Um, it's Newt, by the way."

She opened her eyes, "Yeah, I figured."

"Right, yeah, the accent." He said as if he just remembered he had one.

The girl gestured for him to lay down next to her. She felt comfortable next to him. It was weird. Since she had only known him for less than a day.

Newt laid next to her.

"Can I ask you a question?" She turned on her side to see him better.

Newt responded, "Yes."

"Are we trapped here? Wherever we are?" She took a breath, "Like, you guys are all acting as if it's normal, and I don't get it. I don't remember my life before this, but I don't think this is a normal way of living. Something seems odd."

Newt laughed, "You've got a few things right there." He told her.

"Yeah? Like what?" She asked him.

"We're trapped- for the moment." That was the last one she wanted to be right about. He continued, "It's definitely not a normal way of living. But, we've gotten used to it. You'll have to as well."

She didn't respond to that. She let her mind wander as she turned her head to look up at the stars.

They lay there for a moment, silence filling the glade.
