Percy Jackson: Even the Greatest Fall

Short snippet 2(?)

A/N: Ok so this is in the VERY VERY far future but I wanted to write it anyways

A tall male figure shrouded in black mist can be seen holding a frail girl by the throat. The girl's brown eyes are wide with panic, brunette curls shaking from side to side as she struggles to break free. "H...elp..."

Then someone shouts, "Stop!"

The male turns to face the newcomer.

"Y-you're going too far!" Her stormy gray eyes, normally so full of confidence, are trembling in fear.

His grip tightens. "...Annabeth." He growls her name in a raspy, almost feral-sounding voice. The shadows creep up his arm, over the brunette's neck. Her eyes roll up into the back of her head and she falls limp.

"Let Katie go! You'll kill her!"

He disregards her plea, and Annabeth can see Katie Gardner's unconscious form start to twitch as if being electrocuted.

"Don't do this... she's our friend—"

In the blink of an eye, the dark figure drops Katie's lifeless form to the ground and materializes in front of Annabeth. She opens her mouth to scream but it gets caught in her throat.

"Our friend...?" He laughs maniacally. "So now we're all friends, are we? Now we're all one big, happy family?"

"Please, Percy..."

For a moment the mist seems to clear and she stares into the black expanse of his eyes, which had once been a beautiful shade of sea green. It brings back memories of what they had once had. His crooked grin, the scent of the ocean, his warm embrace...

However, just before the shadows converge, she sees his lips curl into a twisted smile. A shiver runs down her spine. She doesn't even feel the knife slip out of her hand.

Annabeth was undoubtedly one of the bravest, not to mention smartest, demigods in the world. She had never lost her head in a fight.

But in that moment, she is completely overwhelmed by fear. She feels all reason leave her mind, and for the first time in her life, she draws a blank.

Shaking, she turns around and runs away, wanting to get as far away from him as she can.

He's not the Percy I knew.

He's not even human anymore.

"You can run but you can't hide, Wise Girl. You should know that." Percy's crazed laughter seems to echo through the forest after her.

A/N: Okay so I wrote this and I'm not sure what to do now,, anyways tell me if you guys like the idea or not. I wanted to go with a more antagonistic feel for Percy (maybe I'll get into detail later, maybe not) because I know I used to literally just copy whatever other people were doing, but that isn't fun, and I want to spice things up a little y'know? By the way, this is just an idea I had and I wrote it on the spot, so this specific interaction might not happen exactly like this (if I put everything together)

Either way, I guess this is my twist on how I believe things would play out (not saying this is the only possibility though).

Also, yes I know this story is called "Guardian of the Hunt" but:
1. The new story does kind of revolve around that (emphasis on 'kind of'), I just didn't write that part.
2. If I revamp the story then that means I'm going to have to change the plot too. Like I mentioned before, I didn't want to just copy what everyone else did a few years ago (Percy falling in love with Artemis, happy ending, etc.), which is why I changed it so much. Also I was getting tired of writing it lol

So yeah I hope you enjoyed these short snippets^^ maybe I'll come back to it if I have time and write more excerpts, but NO PROMISES :')
