A few girls were talking in the bathroom, a blonde and a girl with long black hair. Diana found the way they spoke very annoying.
'And I thought Martin was annoying enough...' Diana sighed as she walked over to one of the showers stalls. 'Oh well, let's just ignore them.'
But right before she entered the bathroom, one of the girls acknowledged her.
"Well, well, well, a newbie!" The black-haired greeted, her violet eyes twinkling with mischief. "Welcome to Mali-U, newbie!" Her gaze looked her up and down as she frowned in distaste. "Urgh... where are you from?"
"Umm... Quebec?" Diana answered. "Torrington Academy, Sherbrooke."
"Well, that explains your nasty fashion failure," the girl said. "I'm Mandy, and this is my cousin, Mindy."
"Hey Mandy, Mindy," Diana greeted politely, waving slightly. "I just arrived today. I moved in with my brother, Martin."
"Weelll for starters, you need some fashion tips," Mandy said grinned. "Get over here, we'll give you some."
Diana's eyes lit up. She put her stuff on the bathroom shelf and went over to her.
"Alright, for starters, can you jump?" Mindy said. "We need to take a good look at you before we start concluding."
Confused, Diana jumped. Being the most evil students in the university, Mandy and Mindy each kicked her legs, causing her to fall. They started laughing their annoyingly piercing screech.
"Welcome to the university, freak!" Mandy spat. "I didn't know that they're is letting geeks like you to enrol our this fab school."
The cousins left, laughing maniacally.
Diana groaned on the floor.
"California girls are worse than I thought..." Diana sighed. "I wish we could go back to Torrington..."Clover had come to the tenth floor to look for a friend who said she would let her borrow a nice dress she bought. Clover was planning to wear it to a date the next day and she really wanted it.
Well, she was planning to buy one for herself, but the boutique had ran out of it so Clover had no choice but to borrow it from Cassy.
She overheard Mandy's annoying laughter and felt herself boiling with rage.
"Eww, if I had known that Mandy and her evil twin had lived in this floor, I wouldn't have come here!" Clover told herself, a vein throbbing in her temple. "Okay, deep breath, Clover, deep breath. We'll just find Cassy, get the dress, and get out of here."
She saw the evil cousins leaving the girls' bathroom together, laughing.
"That freak deserved it!" Mandy cackled.
"Cha right!" Mindy screamed.
Clover gasped as she realised that something was up. "Oh no..."
She waited for those idiots to leave and ran to the bathroom. She saw a brown-haired girl on the floor.
"I knew Mandy would stoop low, but I didn't know she would go this low!" Clover retorted, running towards the girl.
To her surprise and relief, the girl sat up, looking like she was about to cry. Clover crouched beside the girl
"Hey are you okay?" Clover asked, concerned. That's when she realised that it was Diana. "Diana?"
"You..." Diana said, recognising her. "You're the spy that Martin mentioned."
"Uh yeah, shush," Clover warned. "Let's have a deal. You don't tell anyone about me, and I won't tell anyone that you're a paranormal investigator. Capeesh?"
"Okay," Diana smiled
"What did those maniacs do to you?" Clover asked, helping her up. "I saw them laughing and realised that they're up to no good like always..."
"You know them?" Diana asked, getting onto her feet.
"Well, yeah since high school," Clover spat. "You've only known her for a like day and you're already hating her. How about that?"
Diana couldn't imagine being with a maniac like that for so many years. She was surprised how Clover actually managed to tolerate them.
"I need to take a shower," Diana said. "We came a long way, all the way from Sherbrooke..."
"Oh okay," Clover said. "By the way, I thought you lived in the fifth floor with that Elena girl? Why are you using this bathroom?"
"Well, Elena did everything but threw me out the door," Diana said sheepishly. "Technically, she already has a roommate."
"Figures..." Clover shook her head. "Stuff like that always happens. Anyway, who's your roommate now?"
"I'm staying with my stepbrother," Diana said. "His friend is... his home is pretty nearby, so his portion is vacant. So I can share with Martin instead."
"Well, good luck with that," Clover said with a smirk. "Believe me, we went on a mission with him, and he was totally annoying. But still, he's a nice guy..."
"I guess that's true..." Diana agreed. "I hate to admit it, but yeah."
Diana was standing right in front of the shower stall. Clover realised that she really wanted to enter and smiled sheepishly.
"Oh what a jerk," Clover said, grinning sheepishly. "I'll leave you to take your shower. I need to borrow my friend's dress. Catcha around!"
She left the bathroom, waving, and went to Cassy's room. She borrowed the dress and ran off to the penthouse.
The real reason why she wanted to borrow it was because she wanted to alter it. Well, not exactly alter it, but she wanted to make a copy of it and modify it to her liking.
She found a similar material, made cuttings and started sewing them together with the alterations. She laughed evilly as she held it up.
Her friends came to check on her, having heard manic laughter, and saw her sitting in front of her sewing machine.
"What is she up to?" Alex asked Sam in a panicked tone. "Last time she laughed like that she maxed out Jerry's credit card!"
"I don't know, but it definitely isn't good," Sam concluded. "Let's go see."
They went towards Clover and asked her what she was doing. As a reply, she held up the dress she made.
"How is it?" Clover asked with a wide grin. "I made it myself!"
"Wow, Clover," Sam said, surprised. "You went straight from fashion designer to tailor!"
"Well, yeah," Clover said, adding a few more stitches to her dress. "A fashion designer must be good at both!"
"Or so she says," Alex said. "It's because she taking the tailoring course too."
"Oh yeah I almost forgot about that," Sam said sheepishly. "Anyway, can I have one of those too? In turquoise?"
"And can I have one in amber?" Alex added.
"Deal," Clover said. "But you guys owe me a mani pedi and a spa treatment. Deal?"
"Deal!" Her two friends agreed in unison.
Clover smirked and started working on them. Sam heard a strange noise and realised that Alex had left her video game on.
"Alex, did you leave your game on again?" Sam asked.
"Oh no!" Alex retorted, running back to her game. "Oh great, Martin's probably trashed me now..."
"You forgot to pause?" Sam asked in surprise.
"You can't pause an online match, Sammie," Alex called back, running towards her game. "Oh great... Martin already won the first round..."
She beat him on the second, though. And the third.
"Hah!" Alex exclaimed. "Take that, Mystery!"The next day, they were surprised to see Clover not awake yet. They went to her room and saw her asleep in front of the sewing machine. An empty mug with coffee residue sat on the table, next to the machine.
"She must've stayed up all night!" Alex said, seeing how three finished dresses rested on the chair beside her. "Poor Clover..."
"It's because she really wants that free mani pedi and spa treatment," Sam pointed out with a sigh. "Just like her..."
They shook her awake and questioned her.
"You stayed up all night for the sake of free mani pedi?" Sam said, staring down at her. "Seriously, Clover..."
"Heh heh," Clover laughed sheepishly. "The dresses are done, girls. I just have to return this to Cassy."
She held up the pink dress and got up to return it.
"Is that the original?" Sam asked, seeing some similarities.
"Yep!" Clover said. "I recreated it with my own style. How is it?"
"It's really creative of you, Clover," Alex said in awe. "We'll pay for your mani pedi later, okay?"
"And that spa treatment," Sam added, grinning.
Clover smiled in glee and ran off to get ready for classes. Her friends grabbed the dresses that Clover made for them and went back to their rooms to try them out.
