"Aye yo, Josh!" Lukas called from his seat at the front of the classroom, "you wanna come over tonight?"
I rolled my eyes. Of all times you could make plans for after school, they had to do it in the middle of class. I wanted to comment, but I remembered, no one wants to hear from the peanut gallery; peanut gallery being myself and my stupid decision earlier that day.
"Nah... I got plans," Josh called back, setting his pencil down on his desk to better focus on telling Lukas his plans for the day.
Lukas smiled before his eyes brightened with an idea. I was already able to tell what was about to come out of his stupid, loud mouth.
"Ooh... with Candyapple?" Lukas laughed. I shook my head slowly. Had he learned nothing from this morning?
"Who is Candyapple?" Josh yelled in frustration.
"Your girlfriend? Jeez, Josh, I know you're dumb, but really?" Lukas replied. It felt as if the entire class sighed at once. Ms. Zurita, who happened to be our social studies teacher as well, walked past, smiled at me, and said, "anything to say, Dosia?"
I couldn't tell if my face was red, or pale white. I stuttered a bit until Ms. Zurita laughed and gave me a small little punch on the arm.
"Okay, guys. Back to work,
I tried to continue working but I just couldn't. Of course, I'd be hyper-focused on the wrong thing - that thing being the likelihood of Candyapple being me.
My train of thought was interrupted by Lukas talking about Candyapple again.
"Lukas! Who is Candyapple?" Josh yelled again. I understood his frustration.
Just as before, everyone sighed at once. We were all annoyed. It was not only bothering the absolute hell out of Josh, but it was also effectively stopping everyone else from working.
"I can't tell you..." Lukas whispered mysteriously. I looked up from my paper and stared at Lukas, only to see the same damned smirk he wears when he's up to something. But, this was different, he was looking at Josh, then slowly, he moved his eyes to me. We made eye contact before I raised my eyebrow to silently say, "what the hell?"
The entire room fell silent, as everyone noticed Lukas was now staring at me. Our eyes immediately went to Josh, only to see him blushing profoundly, head down.
Amelia, though, looked back at me from her seat directly in front of me, making those, "ooh" eyes at me, along with a smirk. For the next twenty minutes, she kept doing that same thing; look at Josh, look at me, look at Josh, look at me.
The bell rang, signalling lunch block. As soon as we could, the entire class flooded out the door, rushing to get away from the teacher before she changed her mind on who could leave and who couldn't.
I went to my locker, and Amelia went to hers. Putting away my binder and textbook, I looked to the left to see Josh at Lukas's locker.
"Please just tell me who Candyapple is!" Josh begged, on the verge of anger. I could sense emotions easily, and Josh was definitely at his breaking point.
"You can figure it out," Lukas replied, eyes gazing towards me again, "you know her well."
I shook my head when he looked away, as I would not believe he was talking about me. With a roll of my eyes, I grabbed my phone and walked over to Amelia's locker where she and Sadie stood.
Sadie looked around to see if the boys were near, before yelling out, "Holy shit Dosia! Are you Candyapple?"
"Jesus, Sadie! All Lukas did was look at me when Josh asked who Candyapple is... twice..." I retorted, annoyed by her already.
