"Reason?" The MP looked up at him with a bored stare from his seat.
"Visiting my relatives." Alex replied monotonously.
The MP stared at him for a moment before he scribbled something on the small piece of paper. "All right. Your documents all look fine. Here." He handed him the small rectangular pass after stamping it.
Alex took the paper before stepping out of the large building.
He figured it would be good to start gaining information as soon as possible. Without any knowledge of this place it would be matter of only days before he does something wrong and the police comes for his neck.
Getting the fake documents, reports and backstory made was a little difficult but at least he didn't have to kill anyone. Money pretty much did the job.
Alex was travelling to the inner walls of Shina. His top priority was to get to know about the Royal family. That was where he should start. If he could just trace them down and figure out where the Founder was, maybe... maybe he wouldn't have to spend a decade or so here.
To enter wall Shina they had to get a travel permit. He assumed it was because of the rich and important population of Shina. Not only did the Royal Family but a lot of important ministers, merchants and government officials resided in the innermost walls. An important security measure.
He was glad the people of Eldia spoke the same language. He was able to pick up some basic information from everyday conversations back in Shinghanshina.
Alex mounted the horse he had rented from a barn in wall Maria. It was a good thing he wouldn't be short on money anytime for the next years or so.
He traveled through the gates of wall Shina and his lips parted in a nostalgic feeling as the bright, warm sunlight shined on his face.
This place was nowhere near similar to the wall Maria. He had not got the chance to venture in wall Rose too much, but he was sure it was nothing like wall Shina too.
This place looked so much like Liberio. The similar short houses, the clear stream, the fresh air and the calm feeling throughout.
A ton of memories suddenly came rushing through his head as he thought of the place he used to visit in his childhood. His hand unconsciously gripped the ring around his neck and his green eyes became glazed. The feeling of melancholy washing over him.
'Maybe I can buy a house here someday.'
He continued ahead, looking for the signs of the place he was headed to.
The drunkards in the Inn from Shinghanshina had informed him about this place. He figured it would be worth giving a shot. He knew these were the kind of people that could give him the information he wanted. People would surely get suspicious if he went around asking questions about everything in plain sight.
He was only 12 but he wasn't that naive. He knew how things worked in the dark, illegally behind the backs of the government and the military. After his parents death he had spent quite a lot of time in his uncle's study in secret. Looking at the different set of papers that always appeared on his desk every morning. They ranged from the new policy the government wanted to implement to the reports of the next country they were going at war with.
He didn't understand half of it but he did get the other half at least. Most of them were just police and military reports about stuff his uncle couldn't be bothered with. Crimes like small thefts and murders were of course not things that required his uncle's attention but he did receive the reports. It was important to keep an eye on what happened in the country even if his family had given free reign to the government.
