Mia looked sad.
From the past ten minutes Gloria was staring right past the TV , her arms crossed , her jawline sharp. Her eyes vacant.
Her aura all. .off.
Mia sighed, taking the remote and turning off the TV.
It blinked into oblivion.
Still Gloria kept staring at the blank TV, she didn't even notice it was off.
Mia knew she wasn't present.
"Gloria?" Mia called her softly, both of them sitting on the comfy couch. Well, she was here because Allie told her everything. In fact she was the one who called her and told her to reach Gloria immediately.
And here she was.
Gloria didn't reply.
Now that was really scary . She was so used to Gloria bouncing around oozing happiness and now. . .
She didn't seem like her best friend.
Mia sat up straighter , lifting her hand hesitantly and placing it on her shoulder.
She jerked at her touch.
The trance she was in breaking apart.
Her eyes glanced at Mia as if just noticing her presence. She noticed the concern on her face. The worry etched on her face.
"I'm fine . Don't worry." Gloria clipped.
Mia blew a breath.
"No you're not. And that's okay , Glow. It's okay not to be okay sometimes." Mia said softly.
The thing was she wasn't just not okay. She went from not okay to bad to worse. .
Gloria didn't respond and that's when the door to her room slammed opened as two breathless people walked in.
More like tumbled in.
"Are we late?" Allie asked breathlessly. .taking off the warm muffler around her neck as Dennis too came in. .his eyes settling on his best friend.
She looked like an aftermath of a storm.
"A little." Dennis said , observing her state. Seeing them , Mia stood up . .pointing at Gloria and then giving a helpless shrug.
Dennis nodded and then he marched towards the couch, sitting right beside her, the couch dipping at his weight as a worried Allie too sit beside him.
"Glow?" Dennis said her name softly and she did respond. Turning her neck around at him . .her eyes connecting with his.
He did not like the look in her eyes like she wasn't seeing him.
A cynical smile spread on her face.
"You were right, Dennis. He doesn't love me. "
Dennis opened his mouth-
"So?, " Allie stuck her face out behind Dennis. " So what Gloria? It's his loss. Any guy would die to have you-"
"You're lying . Lying for my sake. I never wanted any guy. I wanted. . him." She said in a low voice , dropping her gaze to her hands folded in her lap.
Dennis took a deep breath, reaching out and placing his hand over hers.
"Listen to me, if he doesn't love you it shouldn't change you . It shouldn't have any affect on who you're. "
"I wish it was easier done then said. How do you guys expect me to be the same when I can't feel my heart?" She asked , her voice trembling a little.
Allie stood up and Dennis glanced at her.
Slowly she moved towards Gloria and then sat down on her knees, placing her hand on top of Dennis's.
"Gloria look at me." Allie said in a no nonsense voice.
She did.
"Who are you?"
Gloria bit her lip.
"Gloria ."
"And who is he? Just a guy -"
Gloria shook her head , her emerald eyes turning glossy.
"You don't understand-"
"I do understand. Dennis will tell you he's just some guy but the truth is he isn't. He owns your heart. He lives in it. It's not going to be easy , Glow. It's not going to be easy kicking him out of your heart, your head. I know what you're going through. I have been there and I have got an advice. Hang in there. It will pass like everything else , Glow. You can't sit here and wallow . You can't let him stop you from being you. Yes you love him but does that mean you will wait for him until he walks in through this door? He knows you love him right? Now all you gotta do is wait. Either he will man up or either you will move on. One thing will certainly happen." Allie said patiently.
Gloria nodded. . actually getting her . And she felt someone pressing her shoulders gently, she glanced up.
Mia was smiling down at her.
"You gotta man up, man. No man should dull your glow."
For the first time, a small smile appeared on her face as she stared around at all the people who were standing silently behind her, beside her, in front of her and then she teared up but with gratitude . .her hand was pressed, her shoulder was rubbed in soothing manner.
Dennis put his arm around her shaking shoulders.
"Seriously Gloria? Never in my wildest dream did I know this day would come where you would be crying and that too after a guy. " Dennis chuckled softly. . earning a snot like laugh from Gloria.
"Like you didn't cry after Allie." Gloria said trying to crack a joke.
Allie raised her brow.
"Really? How come I didn't know?" She glanced at Dennis.
Who suddenly looked a tad bit embarrassed.
"Yeah well. . desperate times call for desperate measures . " Dennis sounded sheepish.
Allie rolled her eyes.
"You gotta be kidding me."
"And did I mention he cried all the-mmmphh!"
Dennis covered her mouth.
"Alright! That's enough."
Smirking at him, Allie stood up . . going back to her vacant place.
Just as they bickered back and forth , Mia joining them . .a smiling Gloria thought. .
How could she wallow in misery when she had such genuine people all around her?
Did she have any right to feel anything but happiness when she was blessed in every single way?
Did the sting in her heart go away? Absolutely not. Her heart was still throbbing with what happened. .but this time she didn't mind its presence.
Because as Allie said. .
This too shall pass like so many other things.
And then . .
It can't rain forever.
The sun will shine.
