Kuroo jogged home quickly and stopped by a coffee shop to grab two cups of coffee. The only reason he was able to make it to Kenma's today was because he said he was going to get him and Souta drinks. The only excuse he was using was that it was hard to get through the snow.
As he got home he stuck the coffee into the snow to cool it down so it could seem like he had been in the cold for a while. He didn't have much time to waste thought. A 2 hour coffee run was very suspicious thats why he also grabbed a baked good. Hopefully the "I was waiting on the slice of cake" excuse would also work.
He fumbled around his pocket to look for his keys but the door was opened up before he could get to them. Souta didn't work so he was always home doing absolutely nothing. From what he learned Souta had a really stable family. He would even considere it more than stable. He would receive a allowance every week of 3k. So he never worried about getting a job.
Kuroo crouched down and grabbed the two cups and handed one to Souta. The boy smiled and put the things at the table. Then he came back and helped Kuroo take his clothes off. Slipping his jacket off and shoes. Kuroo kept one of his warm sweaters on to warm up. He sat on the couch and Souta sat behind him. His hands sneakily going under Kuroo's sweater. He could feel Souta's cold hands touch his body that was trying to warm up. Somehow his hands where cold even though he's been inside the whole time. Kuroo looked at the time at the clock and stood up. "We should eat what I brought before it gets too cold. Kuroo walked to get his coffee. He put his drink in the microwave for it to heat up. Souta trailed behind him and leaned on the counter. He admired Kuroo from where he was "you want to get a tattoo? Like one but with my initials? We can put it on your wrist or maybe your behind so only I can see it!"
Kuroo's eye twitched from anger but he didn't say anything. He simply took his coffee out and sat on the table. Souta followed him and sat across from him.
eating while watching tv. The News reporter reported about soulmates and as they did Souta looked at him with a deadly glare. Kuroo could feel his eyes that went in the back of his head. He wasn't sure to be afraid or worried. They both counted as the same thing right? His phone rang and Kuroo shuffled around to get his phone out but as he did Souta swiped it from his hands.
"Hello?" Souta said as he played with his own hair. He watched as Kuroo bounced his leg up and down anxiously.
"Why are you crying? Want me to hand you to Kuroo?" Souta asked. He sat there for a few seconds and smiled. He put the phone on speaker and gave it to the boy in front of him.
"Hello?" Kuroo said awkwardly.
"K-Kuroo, are you okay? When are you coming to my house?" Kenma cried. He must of been crying ever Sense Kuroo left his house. He didn't know what to say because things could go down hill from here. He could always ask for permission to go but then again would this psychopath even let him. He couldn't stay silent for too long or he'll get suspicious.
"Dont cry, I promise I'm okay if I wasn't I wouldn't be here talking to you. I'll try coming over when I'm free okay?" Kuroo was scared Kenma would say something that could get him in trouble so he decided to keep things short and simple.
"Okay," Kenma sniffles and yawns tired from today. They say there goodbyes and hang up. Souta leaned in his chair with his hands crossed staring at Kuroo. With a facial expression that was impossible to read. He didn't look to pleased though. He stood up his arm swung causing him to flinch well at least that's what Kuroo thought. Soutas hand reached a jar of sugar that was on the counter behind Kuroo. He's been getting beaten up to often that any move Souta did scared him.
"Your gonna ask me if you can go visit him right?" Souta huffs. He wouldn't get to spend time with Kuroo if he did let him go.
"Either you let me go today or tomorrow" Kuroo said trying to stand up to Souta a bit more. He chuckles and rests his head on his right hand. "Fine fine, you can go see him. Tomorrow will just be you and me." He grabs Kuroo's chin and kissed him in the cheek. Kuroo hated the feeling of chapped crusty lips. Christmas was coming up and he was pretty sure he was going to get killed if he didn't buy this guy anything.
Kuroo stood up and made his way to grab his things. He might as well play nice so Souta would be nice to him too. He might just let him see Kenna more. Kuroo shoved his snow boots on and grabbed a red scarf. Last thing he needed was to get sick this holiday season. It took long but it was worth it once he arrived at Kenma's door. Kuroo took out his phone and made sure he looked good using its reflection. He looked like a business man if you asked him.
He nocked at the door and waited. He heard shuffling and cursing then It opened. Kenma stood there with a blanket over his head. Kuroo laughed and grabbed him as he stepped inside. he took of his shoes off while held Kenma who just lached onto him. He found it quiet adorable. With a quick lift he took Kenma to the couch and turned on the fire place. It was freezing inside he had no idea how the smaller boy was even living here.
He sat next to Kenma and lifted his face up. His eyes where red and puffy and his lips quivered. Using his thumb he wiped away a tear that rolled down his cheek. "What's wrong? Why are you crying?" Kuroo asked bring Kenma closer to him. Kenma hugged Kuroo from the neck and stayed there.
"Today is the anniversary of my mother's death... and I'm not someone to cry about it but you held my face just like she used to do." Kenma buried his face into Kuroo's coat. It shocked the taller boy. Now that he thought about it Kuroo haven't seen Kenma's mom in years. Last time he saw her was after he graduated from school.
"What do you mean? You never told me she passed away. Why are you telling me this now?" Kuroo made Kenma look at him. His eyes teared up.
"She commuted suicide the same year you graduated, before Christmas. She couldn't handle the fact that my father was dead so she hanged herself." Kenma's hands started to shake.
At this point Kuroo connected everything together. He grabbed both of Kenma's hand and looked at him. "Your afraid of dating because your scared that I might die and you'll be alone just like your mom?" Kuroo said bluntly. Kenma looked at Kuroo in shock. His mouth open not knowing what to say. Kuroo sighed and brought him to a tight bear hug.
"Next time tell my the truth about everything dummy." Kuroo said as he grabbed the blanket that had fallen off of Kenma and placed it back on him.
"I won't leave you okay? I'll be here for you forever. Where ever You go I'll be right here." He pulls Kenma back and points at his heart. Tears began to fall once again from the blonde. He felt so relieved that he had gotten that off of his chest. He felt reassured and thankful to have Kuroo as his soulmate.
"I love you," Kuroo said looking into Kenma's eyes.
The small boy squeezed his eyes shut and hugged Kuroo again. "Not ready for that yet?" Kuroo laughed. Kenma shook his head.
"Surprise me when your ready okay?" Kuroo kissed him. They both snuggled up on the couch and drifted to sleep.
