Chapter 3: My friend

Coral's POV

For the first time in forever Brendan actually looked at me! He knows I'm here!
"Are you even listening to me?"

Alexa seemed startled when I raised my voice.

"Sorry what?" She said confused.
"You were talking to me?"

I put my hand to my face and sighed. As I was saying, Brendan looked at me and he even... You ready for this?

"What Coral!"
"he said HI!"

It may sound like nothing but it's actually a huge step for me. He never noticed me until now. I've waited all of middle school for this. It might actually happen!

"Coral, he just said hi. It's not like he asked you to marry him."
"I guess your right. I am going a little overboard."

It just feels so good. Maybe I should start with baby steps. Become friends with him. Now that I think about it, I bet he doesn't even want to talk to me 'cause I'm not popular.

The rest of the day I was depressed. I went into Science with my head down.

"Hello class" my teacher said very enthusiastically.
"Today we have two new students. Lorin and Kirra.

I knew Kirra. She was my best friend before I moved away. Lorin I didn't know.

"Coral!" She yelled running to me.
"It's been so long! I'm so happy to see you!"
Maybe the rest of the day wasn't going to be that bad.

"Hi I'm Lorin"
"Hey Lorin nice to meet you."
Do I now have two more friends?
This is the best day of my life!
I told my dad at lunch because I practically live right next door to the school, and he said that we could have a party with all my friends before the hour lunch is done.

I called Alexa, Gwyn, Milena, Kirra and even Lorin!

"This is so awesome!" Lorin said
"I've never seen such a big house!"
I stopped in my tracks.
"This, a big house?" I said so surprised.
"Yeah, my families poor so we have a tiny house.

I can't believe I she's poor too. She is so my new best friend.
I went to tell Lorin that I was poor too and now she wants to know everything about me.

She looked so shy though when we were at school. Well it was her first half of the day.
"Lorin..."
I got pulled away into the corner.
Alexa probably had to tell me something important because she has a serious look on her face.

"I decided I'm going to do some investigating." Alexa said with a smirk on her face.
"About what?"
"To see if Brendan likes you or not."
I can't believe she would do that for me 'cause every time we talk about it she always try's to find a way to change the subject.
"You would do that for me?"
"I am you're friend aren't I?"

I jumped back into the party with the biggest smile on my face.
I said softly, "These are my friends, my best friends!"

After the huge party, I was walking to class when I saw Lorin being bullied so I got so angry that I didn't even think about what I am about to do.

I jumped in and shoved the girl back. It was Stephanie, the biggest, strongest girl in school.

"I just made a big mistake." I thought to myself. She grabbed me and through me against the locker.

She was about to lean in for a huge punch but someone pulled her back. After that dramatic hit against the locker, my eyes were blurry so I couldn't quite see who it was, but when I could see well enough I noticed that it was Brendan!
