At the end of Chapter 7:  (Sinem)  She noticed some movement out of the corner of her eye and quickly turned around. She saw a young man walking her way. He was waving at her and said, "Hi. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to startle you again!" Sanem replied, "No it's alright. You didn't scare me." The man responded "My name is Luca and I live in the house by the rocks. I have seen you several times on the beach and thought I'd introduce myself." She answered and said, "I'm Sanem. Pleased to meet you."

Okay, I really think that time has stopped here. Has it just been four months up here? It seems like a year. Four months of not hearing her voice, not seeing her face. HOW STUPID, DIVIT! This was all your idea and now you have to live with it. Just keep running that whole scenario over and over in your head. All she did was try and help you out of a bad situation. You overreacted, like always, and that ego of yours has lost you more than it has gained. Time to re-evaluate yourself and start learning how to forgive.

The magazine decided to add a few more locations to the project.

That's great. It means it's going to take another month! I'm never getting out of here. I have to call Emre and see if they will tell me anything about Sanem. And let him know it's going to be three more months now instead of two.

Can's phone call to his brother played out the same way the many calls before it. Emre denied any knowledge of Sanem's whereabouts and changed the subject to work. Emre informed him that the agency had landed a new account. As he filled him in on the details and outlined the concept of the campaign, Can was imagining the next logical move. He complimented Emre on the work the team had done and gave a stamp of approval to it, even though he had barely heard a word Emre said about the project.

When they disconnected the call, Can muttered out loud. "How did I not think of this before? CeyCey!"

He quickly rang CeyCey's phone and heard his friend's voice vibrate with enthusiasm and excitement.

"Can Bey, I can't believe it's you! How are you?"

Can knew he would have to endure a certain amount of small talk before he could get to the topic at hand. He quickly filled CeyCey in on all the events leading up to today, then quizzed him on the daily routine of the agency and the new clients. Having said enough of what he thought was necessary, he got right to the point of his call.

"CeyCey, have you seen or talked to Sanem? I seem to have missed her the last few times I called. I am feeling some concern that there could be a problem."

It wasn't a complete lie. He had missed her when he called. He just didn't say it was every time he called.

"No, Can Bey. I haven't talked to her since she resigned from the agency," CeyCey said.

Can stuttered. "She what? You tell me you if you've talked to her. When did she resign? Don't leave out anything, CeyCey. I want the truth!"

His voice was little more than a whisper and resembled a low growl that CeyCey had never heard before. Knowing he had said too much, CeyCey began to panic and rant. "I don't feel like I can answer that question myself. Let me get Ms. Deren," he shouted. And with that, Can's call was put on hold.

In what seemed like an eternity later, Deren greeted him with an exuberant hello. "Can! It's so good to hear from you! How are you?"

Can's heart was beating so loudly in his ears that he could barely hear what Deren said to him. Really tired and frustrated now with all of the unnecessary chatter, he demanded to know when Sanem had resigned.

Completely unraveled by Can's attitude, Deren said, "Well, let me see. It looks like she turned in her papers on May 21st."

Can's mind was racing.

That was the day before I left, and no one thought it relevant to tell me?

"Really?" he finally let a single word come out of his mouth.

"And why wasn't I informed of this?" he sputtered.

Deren was trying to choose the right words to answer Can, but they just wouldn't come. She actually knew nothing of Sanem's plans, preferring not to know for the exact reason that was just happening. She told Can she thought Sanem had talked to him about it, and it was agreed upon before they had both departed.

Can abruptly ended the call and stared into the darkness. His lungs ached like they were too full of air. Yet as hard as he tried, he couldn't seem to exhale. He struggled to breathe and his brain was in a fog. He was so far from everything and everyone and had never felt so powerless.

After it seemed like an eternity of time had passed, he started to process what he had heard. It looked like they were all in on this game.

Had he become a person that was unforgiving and callous, without feelings? He had made a mistake not listening to Sanem and showing her some compassion. How many times had he told her to listen to her heart and soul, yet he had not acted on those words himself. He loved her beyond himself and always would. There was no way he could walk away from her.

Look where that ego has gotten you now, Divit!

He picked up his phone and typed a text message. "I'm listening to my heart and soul. Sorry I didn't listen to your words. I LOVE YOU Sanem!" ... and hit "Send".
