At the end of Chapter 3:  Becoming anxious as he waited to board his flight, he was worried that Sanem had not returned his call so he rang her number again. Again, no answer. That's strange but there could be numerous reasons for her not to answer. I'll send a text to let her know I'm getting ready to board. He sent a text message which read, "Hey, tried to call but didn't get through. I'm heading out. Talk to you soon!" He started to call Emre when the call to board the flight was broadcast across the waiting area.

The buzz in the literature world for the summer season was a Writer's Workshop and Seminar to be held in Chania on the Island of Crete. Sanem had been hearing about it for months and was excited about the possibility to attend.

She and Leyla had planned every detail to a fault, determined to pull it off successfully. She had rented a small cottage on the coast that was just on the outskirts of town. It was close to the community center where the seminar was to be held, in easy walking distance.

With Leyla's help, they had convinced their anne and baba to let her attend. It would be a huge boost for her experience. She would be able to meet the necessary people to help further her career. Never mentioning that the shadows and ghosts of Can Divit that surrounded her everywhere she went was one of the main reasons to run from Istanbul.

It had been a week since Can left. She was on her way to the airport to start the new life that she so desperately needed. The calls from him were becoming more and more frequent, and the texts from him had put a major overload on her phone. The stress was almost too much to bear. She knew from speaking to Emre that Can's calls to him were becoming more aggressive as he demanded to know her whereabouts.

When he was able to speak to Emre, Can was frustrated, angry, and even sounded a little desperate. "Emre, I have sent over 50 texts to Sanem and called her more times than that!! And nothing. So, what's up? Where is she?"

Emre had to choose his words carefully. He and Leyla had given their word to Sanem that they would not reveal her secret. "Can, just relax. What is so important that you have to speak to her?" Emre responded, trying to sound casual and nonchalant.

"Because I haven't been able to talk to her since the day before I left. That is not our agreement!" Can replied.

Emre quoted back to him a conversation that took place before Can left. He and Sanem agreed to take this time apart to work on themselves and start to rebuild their lives. However, reminding Can of this only irritated him more.

Emre concluded by saying, "Anyway, I don't even know where she is."

Can was insistent that Emre find out where Sanem was. He said he would call him back when after reaching his next destination. It had been three weeks since he left and Emre was still serving up one excuse after another.

Somebody for sure better have an answer for him when he called back!
