A/N: I do not own criminal minds or any of its plotlines. I simply am modifying it and adding my own twist to certain things therefore some things may be wrong in my book or changed because I do not remember a whole lot about how life worked in 2005 except for the lack of technology and I kind of want them to have certain technology. I appreciate constructive criticism but I would like you to understand that the plot of this book is that Spencer was a very different person in college as a result of his friendship with the OC so I don't want people commenting about how something is out of character for him as that is the point. Thanks and when some topics that may be triggering come up I will try to put a disclaimer but if I miss one please feel free to inform me. This is my first Criminal Minds fanfic so I hope you like it! ~Jess

3rd Person P.O.V.
Spencer Reid wasn't a very popular kid. That was understandable to him. After all, here he was, walking towards the campus of the California Institute of Technology at the young age of twelve. What's even worse is that he rode his bike there because his mom, who suffers from paranoid schizophrenia, was having one of her bad days today. As if he needed something else to make him odd.
He huffs, shaking off the bad thoughts that he has grown used to. Despite his mother's constant praise, his father abandoning him and his mother is still fresh in Spencer's mind and the constant bullying he suffered throughout high school makes Spencer believe what they had said. He really is a freak.
This is the thought he has on his mind right before he falls flat on his butt. Great, he can't help but think. The bullying has already begun. Before he can even try to defend himself, he is cut off. "Oh my God. I am so sorry. I wasn't even paying attention. Today is my first day here and I was memorizing the map so I wouldn't get lost...and I'm rambling while you are still on the ground. Let me give you a hand." That's when he sees the hand extended down to him. He smiles a little bit, beginning to think college may not be so bad as he grasps the feminine hand and allows her to help him up.
"Thanks," he says, finally looking up to her face, only to completely blanch. Standing in front of him is hands down the most beautiful girl in the world with bouncy blonde curls and bright blue eyes that he can tell hold thousands of secrets but also slight hints of sorrow. She was the type of girl that would turn heads the second she walked into a room. Before he can even help himself, he blurts out possibly the stupidest thing to leave his mouth. "You look really young to be at college."
He slams his mouth closed realizing how dumb that sounds coming from the 12-year-old but even worse, he was making a fool of himself in front of the pretty girl that would probably quickly become popular despite her obvious young age and then bully him. He's shocked, however, when she lets out an angelic giggle that makes a small smile overtake his face, and all thoughts of how stupid he sounded fall away as his brain can only think of one thing. Getting her to make that sound again.
"That's funny coming from someone who looks just as old as me," she jests before holding her hand out. "I'm Ama...Amy. I'm 12 and I just transferred here from M.I.T."
He is shocked once more since today was the first day of fall classes meaning that she had to have graduated high school the year before he did to have a least one year at M.I.T. He wants to ask about it but instead shakes his head. "I'm Spencer Reid. I'm also 12 and I don't like shaking hands. The number of pathogens passed from a handshake is staggering. It's-"
"Really safer to kiss," she finishes for him, unable to not notice how adorable he looked when he talked about facts. "I know but I wash my hand frequently and keep them away from my face. Plus if I went around greeting everyone I met with a kiss, that might get a little awkward." Spencer's face turns a bright shade of red as he nods his head, making Amy laugh once more before speaking. "Well it was really nice to meet you, Spencer Reid, but I have to get to class. A twelve-year-old already draws attention, I'd hate to draw more by walking in late. See you around."
She gives him a small wave before rushing on her way, leaving Spencer staring at where she once stood. For once, he was overjoyed to have an eidetic memory because he feared that even being that young, Amy was bound to get swept up with the popular people and become a bully like every other beautiful girl he had ever met. It would be a shame but at least he would always have this first moment. That moment was she was kind and pure. He would remember it forever as a reminder that people don't start out bad, something makes them that way.
With that thought in mind, Spencer heads towards his mathematics lecture deciding that college was going to be far better than high school. It had to be if it brought him Amy.
