Actually gonna post one more for Azzy boy <3
He thought he had died. Thought it was over. Thought he would never again see the stars of Velaris, spend another Winter Solstice with his family, see the dimples on his mates face when she laughed... His mother stood before him, glowing in all her glory.
He had almost fell to his knees. Almost collapsed onto her, holding her and crying into her skin like a child. If he hadn't felt that solid hand clamp onto his wrist, he would have.
But now. After the painful scream and a screech of an inhumane creature pierced his ears, he had realized where he was, who he was. And the first thing he thought to do was to save his mate. At whatever cost.
She was gone now, running to- gods knows where. He prayed to the mother she was okay as he faced the shadowy creature looking down upon them.
Mor and Amren had bursted into the cabin as Freesia had fled. He had only guessed that Rhys had felt the power surge and sent them to see what the source was, but would confirm his theory later.
Now, he would kill this creature and be done with it. The hilt of his blades were swarmed in shadow as he circled the demon-creature. But it's attention was not on the Shadowsinger, but on the open door that Freesia had fled to.
Before he could process what was happening, a strong, black force slammed into his chest, heaving him into the wall with enough force to put him on his ass.
Azriel reeled, gathering enough strength to get to his feet. Mor and Amren were on the floor, dizzied and trying to get up. Cassian and Nesta doing the same on the other side of the room.
A sharp pain radiated up his side as he limped over to the table, realizing the shadow creature was gone. He placed his hand to the source of pain, wincing as his fingers touched his side. Red, warm blood coated his fingers as he lifted them to his face.
His head spun at the realization of this wound going through his side completely, and not healing on its own.
"Cassian-" He muttered, looking over to see his brother helping Nesta off the floor and into a chair. Cassian looked to Azriel, scanning his wound with a worried look.
"Freesia." Was all he said as his vision blurred and darkness overcame him.
