Merry Christmas everyone! I decided to do a cute little festive one shot. I hope everyone's enjoying themselves and still finding that festive cheer in these difficult times 🎄this book is in nobodies POV, and the boys are not famous.
////////////////////////////////////The boys had broken up from college for Christmas, no more classes, no more homework, just Christmas spirit! They were going home to be with their families in a couple of days, and they had the weekend to spend together in their shared apartment. Michael and Ashton were out looking for a little mini Christmas tree for them to have in the living room, whilst Calum and Luke had a duty to bake the most delicious Christmas cookies whilst they were gone.
The sweet smell of the cookies wafted from the oven and up Luke's nostrils, he knew that the dough had cooked through by this point. "They're finally done!" Luke smiled as he put on his cute little red oven gloves. Calum was sat on the sofa flicking through the TV channels trying to find something festive to watch. "Sweet! Now we just need to give them a few minutes to cool down and then we can decorate them!" He smiled. "You gonna help me decorate them, Cal?" Luke asked him. "Yeah. Did you remember to buy the icing?" He peered over to his best friend. "Oh shit..." Luke pulled the cookies out of the oven and placed them on the top as he stressfully sighed. "I didn't buy any icing... I got the sprinkles but forgot the icing.." he said. Calum rolled his eyes and stood up. "How could you forget the icing?! What the hell are we supposed to decorate them with now??" He asked Luke, hoping he could come up with a better idea. "You mean you didn't pick any up either?" Luke scoffed. "Well this is just great. Eh, fuck it, we have sprinkles" he scratched the top of his head and tried to see the situation more positively. "We have nothing to use as a base! The sprinkles won't stick! What are we supposed to do, spit on them?! Cum on them?! You forgot the fucking icing!" Calum started getting stressed and be threw the TV remote on the couch. "Excuse me?! Calum, I'm the one who made them! Do I have to think of everything?! You've been sat there on your arse watching telly whilst I'm doing all the baking!!" Luke pulled off his oven gloves and tossed them on the side. Well this isn't good. Were they really going to start fighting? But it's Christmas! "Oh really? I made the eggnog!" Calum stood up and went over to the large glass bowl of eggnog and stared at it. He then grabbed the brandy from the shelf, and poured more in it. Even though he already mixed a fair bit of brandy into the eggnog! "Calm down with that! You'll get us all pissed!" Ashton went to go take the brandy off of Calum and placed it back on the shelf. Calum grabbed a glass, dipping it in the bowl scooping up a pints worth of eggnog before necking it. What a disaster this has turned into. He didn't want to fight with Luke, nor drink to solve his problems. But this was the quickest way of cooling down, it's the first thing that came to Calum's head. The more he argued with Luke, the more he wanted to tell him his true feelings.
"Calum, stop that!" Luke went to snatch the glass. "You'll get drunk, you can't be drunk because we need to be sober for when Michael and Ashton get back." He added "i don't care anymore, beats arguing with the person I'm in love wi- I mean care about.." Calum stuttered and covered his mouth after realising he had slipped up and confessed the feelings he has for Luke. "W-was you about to say that you are in love with me?" Luke raised an eyebrow, he could feel his heart beating inside his chest. Calum's dark brown eyes widened, and his plump lips parted. He just dropped himself in it, and he didn't know what to do. It was too late to go back now, he didn't know if he could handle Luke's reaction if it happened to be negative. "Um.. fuck, it slipped out.. time to drink more.." Calum took back the glass and attempted to scoop up more eggnog but Luke gently grabbed Calum's wrist, causing him to drop the glass in the cold, frothy, pale yellow liquid. His grasp wasn't firm, or hard, but Luke still had the strength to move Calum's arm away from the bowl. "Please can you... say that again." Luke said as he let go. "I uhh... I said I'm in love with you..." Calum mumbled, he felt so vulnerable and scared, so he panicked and picked up the glass to drink more, but this time he dropped it on the table below the eggnog and it smashed, leaving a very small, not so deep cut in his finger. "Fuck!" Calum gasped "hey..hey, it's okay, run it under the cold water" Luke gently rubbed Calum's shoulder as he grabbed the dustpan and brush and started to clear up the broken glass from the table. He wanted to make sure Calum was being taken care of after being so brave, confessing his feelings for him. So he decided to clear away the hazard first.
Calum strolled over to the sink and cleared his fresh wound with the cold water. It didn't hurt, to be honest the cut wasn't bothering him in the slightest. He didn't even think about his injury, he was more hurt that Luke didn't react or respond to him when he confessed his love for him. He watched the blonde, curly haired boy clean up the accident he made, feeling more on edge than ever. "Um... Luke..." Calum said, wanting an answer or even just the slightest bit of closure. "Hmm?" Luke emptied all the broken glass into the trash and walked up to Calum. "Are you going to say anything back to what I just told you?" Calum's eyes began to prick with tears of a mixture of worry and hope. Worry that he wouldn't love him back. Hope that he would love him back. There's no in between, it had to be one or the other. Luke chuckled and looked into his eyes. "I mean... I would say something back... but I'd rather just do this." Luke leaned in and gently pressed his lips against Calum's, they felt like soft little pink pillows. The smooth softness had a hint of moisture as the kiss they shared got more passionate, and as a few moments went by, they had their tongues dancing together like swans.
Before things got too heavy, Luke pulled away realising that even though he was in the moment, Calum's finger still needed to be treated. "We..need to get your finger bandaged up." Luke stood up. It all felt like such a cliffhanger, but he couldn't leave Calum just stood there bleeding. They knew that they needed to talk about everything, but this was a very awkward time for it to happen. Calum and Luke had mutual feelings, and emotions going through their heads but they just didn't know it. They were both feeing excited and joyful about the new relationship they were going to share with each other. Calum rose shortly after Luke, who picked him up and placed him on the kitchen counter. "Stay here... let me get the first aid box." Luke smiled as he started browsing through the cupboards. Calum nodded as he bit his lip, he still wasn't bothered that he had cut his finger, all that was on his mind was Luke. He peered over at Luke standing on his tip toes looking in the cabinet "oH!" He heard Luke gasp. "What?" Calum asked confused. Luke pulled the first aid box out and placed it on the counter, and then reached his arm to the back of the cupboard to pull out a pack containing three tubes. A green one, a red one, and a white one. "Here's the Christmas icing!" Luke gasped. They looked at each other and burst out laughing, they couldn't stop! Had there really been icing in the cupboard this whole time? Luke placed them on the side as he pulled out a plaster to fix up Calum's finger.
He walked over to Calum, who was still sat on the side. "Hold still..this won't hurt a bit, I promise.." he said as he peeled the back of the plaster on and gently let the sticky side glide onto his soft skin. Calum kept peering down at his finger, then back up at Luke. "Thank you..." the dark haired boy still had his lower lip gently locked under his front teeth. "No worries...now, how about we start decorating these cookies before the boys get back?" Luke smiled. "We can decorate them together." He added. "Yeah, I'd like that" Calum smiled back. "I'm gonna decorate this one like Santa Claus cause I love mince pies and whiskey. You can decorate this one like a Christmas tree because they light up and sparkle like you do" Luke pointed at the different cookies he baked. "And this one... we will both decorate it like the grinch. Because I think we lost our festive cheer a little tonight and acted like a pair of grinch's" he chuckled as he pointed at the largest biscuit. Calum couldn't help but laugh. "We did. But hey, the grinch found his heart in the end right?" He didn't want to sound too corny but he was hoping that their story could end similarly. "He sure did! Come on, let's decorate!" Luke took the tips off the end of the icing tubes. They both started to decorate the cookies, and after a few moments, Luke put down the icing. "Hey...you know what?" Luke looked at Calum. "Yeah?" "I'm glad we couldn't find the icing until now. Despite what happened to your finger.." Luke chuckled. "What? Why? It would've saved us so much more time and we wouldn't have had that argument." Calum shrugged. "I know... but if we didn't argue.. you wouldn't have told me that loved me. So I'm glad you did. Because I love you too..." he gently picked up a Christmas cookie and snapped it in half, passing the slightly larger half of the cookie to Calum. "Will you... be my.. other half?" His eyes filled with hope. "I will... I will.." He replied.
The two boys shared a soft and gentle kiss, and began to much on their halves of the Christmas cookie.
