Few months later...
Custody Hearing for Justice Y/N
Your POV"We are here for the custody hearing of Justice Y/L/N," the judge said.
"My client is filing for full custody of her daughter, Justice," my lawyer said.
"My client is also filing for full custody of Justice," Janelle's lawyer said making me roll my eyes. They debated for about an hour and they were trying to do joint custody, but I wasn't having it. They then brought Justice up to talk to the judge.
"How are you today, Justice?" the judge asked her.
"I'm good. I'm ready to go home if we're being honest," she replied.
"Where's home?" she asked.
"With my mama."
"Really? What do you do at home with your mama?"
"We eat all of food, paint, swim, skateboard and spend time with each other. Even when she's working we spend time together. She always asks me for my opinion on blueprints and she lets me name them," Justice said happily.
"What about when you go see your mommy?" she asked and Justice frowned.
"I don't go see mommy anymore."
"Why is that, honey?"
"Mommy didn't choose me. She chose someone else," she said frowning.
"What do you mean, honey?" she asked.
"Mommy had to choose between Nathan and I. She chose him. Mama keeps me away from mommy because she's always around him and he use to beat me a lot. Mama doesn't want me going through that again," she replied. My lawyer brought up the pictures that I had taken of her bruises and everything he had did to her.
"How does that make you feel?"
"Makes me feel like mommy doesn't love me anymore. It really hurts my feelings a lot. She doesn't wanna spend time with me which is all I ever want," she said tearing up.
"Do you have anything to say?" the judge asked Janelle.
"No, your honor," she said never looking at the judge. I shook my head and just looked back at Justice. She scrunched up her nose and stuck her tongue out at me. I did the same thing to her and she giggled. The custody hearing lasted for another about thirty more minutes until the judge made her decision.
"I'm granting Ms. Y/L/N full custody of Justice Y/L/N. You will be granted visitation days, but Justice is not to leave with you whatsoever," the judge explained and Janelle started crying. I just rolled my eyes. Justice ran over to me and hugged me.
"Can we get ice cream, mama?" she asked me and I chuckled.
"Yes, we can, baby," I said kissing her cheek.
"I'm gonna get cookies and cream," she said still holding onto me as I stood up. Janelle left without saying anything to Justice. I held Justice up in the air as we walked out of the court room.
"I love you, mama," she said and I smiled.
"How much?" I asked.
"This much," she said stretching her small arms out.
"That's a lot," I said and she nodded in agreement. I walked to my car and placed her in her seat. I made sure she was secure before getting in the car.
"Let's go get some ice cream," I said and she cheered.
"Let's go see grandma too," she suggested.
