I've been in this hospital for four years, and I know I'm not getting out. Everybody does. Everybody knows the blue I.D. band was a death sentence. It was just that nobody said it. I was one of three patients with one. The other two were on life support. Four people knew of my intelligence. Apparently, being mute made me incompetent. My teacher also taught five year olds. Great. She also doesn't believe I can't talk. I lost my family, my legs, and my voice in a car crash. Since then, I've lost my friends from being a 'freak' and a 'retard'. These are the stories of my life in the hospital. Nobody even asks my name. I'm Sam. It's nice to meet you. For the past four years, all I've been is alone. Alone and mute.
