Crono, a 17 year old boy from Truce, stumbles acrossed MT.Ebott and falls in. He's the 8th human to fall into the Underground (rather than Frisk). Along his journey, he meets a small ghost child, Chara, who's forced to follow him through Crono's Determination (NaraChara theory), and together, they meet lots of great monsters. But then, just as they think all is going well, a new threat emerges. What is this threat? How will they handle it? Find out in their journey through the underground!

Es un futuro en el que el tiempo ya no importa. Pueden haber pasado miles de años de ahora o apenas meses, da igual. Todo está destruido y devastado y nadie sabe el porque. No hay indicios de bombas nucleares, ni plagas ni alguna otra manera por el que la raza humana se haya extenguido casi en su totalidad. Aún así, la historia está entremezclada, antiguas civilizaciones egipcias, templarios sedientos de sangre y un futurismo cyberpunk mezclados a la vez esperando a ser explorados. El protagonista de esta historia podría ser cualquiera, pues todas las historias que ocurren en este mundo son igual de interesantes, pero nos centraremos en Johhny, un "mercenario" que intenta sobrevivir en este nuevo/viejo mundo como sea.
